Tau acetylation at K331 has limited impact on tau pathology in vivo

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We mapped tau post‐translational modifications in humanized MAPT knock‐in mice and in amyloid‐bearing double knock‐in mice. Acetylation within the repeat domain, particularly around K331, showed modest increases under amyloid pathology. To test functional relevance, we generated MAPTK331Q knock‐in mice.

Joint slot allocation and dynamic pricing of container sea–rail multimodal transportation

open access: yesJournal of Traffic and Transportation Engineering (English ed. Online), 2015
The container sea–rail multimodal transport system faces complex challenges with demand uncertainties for joint slot allocation and dynamic pricing. The challenge is formulated as a two-stage optimal model based on revenue management (RM) as actual slots

A two-stage stochastic mixed-integer programming approach to the competition of biofuel and food production [PDF]

open access: yesComputers & Industrial Engineering, 2017
First stochastic optimization model maximizing benefits of food and biofuel production. The uncertain parameters of yield amount and price level are calculated using real data.Stochastic yield-level information in an optimization model provides significant benefits. We provide insights into decision making for biofuel and food production under ...

Structural insights into an engineered feruloyl esterase with improved MHET degrading properties

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
A feruloyl esterase was engineered to mimic key features of MHETase, enhancing the degradation of PET oligomers. Structural and computational analysis reveal how a point mutation stabilizes the active site and reshapes the binding cleft, expading substrate scope.

Valosin‐containing protein counteracts ATP‐driven dissolution of FUS condensates through its ATPase activity in vitro

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Biomolecular condensates formed by fused in sarcoma (FUS) are dissolved by high ATP concentrations yet persist in cells. Using a reconstituted system, we demonstrate that valosin‐containing protein (VCP), an AAA+ ATPase, counteracts ATP‐driven dissolution of FUS condensates through its D2 ATPase activity.

Considering Multiple Factors to Forecast CO2 Emissions: A Hybrid Multivariable Grey Forecasting and Genetic Programming Approach

open access: yesEnergies, 2018
Development of technology and economy is often accompanied by surging usage of fossil fuels. Global warming could speed up air pollution and cause floods and droughts, not only affecting the safety of human beings, but also causing drastic economic ...

A Two-Stage Stochastic Programming Approach for Energy-Oriented Lot-Sizing

open access: yes
We consider an industrial plant equipped with an on-sitepower generation system based on intermittent renewable energy. Weinvestigate the problem of simultaneously planning the industrial productionand the energy supply in this plant on a short-therm horizon. We propose to handle the resulting energy-oriented lot-sizing problem bya two-stage scenario ...

Diversity and complexity in neural organoids

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Neural organoid research aims to expand genetic diversity on one side and increase tissue complexity on the other. Chimeroids integrate multiple donor genomes within single organoids. Self‐organising multi‐identity organoids, exogenous cell seeding, or enforced assembly of region‐specific organoids contribute to tissue complexity.

A fully intuitionistic fuzzy multi-objective linear fractional fixed charge optimization model for sustainable transportation planning in the sugar-mill industry [PDF]

open access: yesArchives of Control Sciences
Sustainability has recently grown to be a primary focus for transport planning and policies in both developing and developed nations. The paper focuses on the sustainability of a multiobjective linear fractional fixed charge transportation model that ...

A Primal-Dual Decomposition-Based Interior Point Approach to Two-Stage Stochastic Linear Programming [PDF]

open access: yesOperations Research, 2002
Decision making under uncertainty is a challenge faced by many decision makers. Stochastic programming is a major tool developed to deal with optimization with uncertainties which has found applications in, e.g., finance, such as asset–liability and bond–portfolio management.
