A Multi-Time Scale Dispatch Strategy Integrating Carbon Trading for Mitigating Renewable Energy Fluctuations in Virtual Power Plants

open access: yesEnergies
Under the “dual-carbon” strategic framework, the installed capacity of renewable energy sources has continuously increased, while that of conventional generation units has progressively decreased.

Decomposition Methods For Solving Distributionally Robust Two-Stage Stochastic Integer Programs [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
We introduce and study a two-stage distributionally robust mixed binary problem (TSDR-MBP) where the random parameters follow the worst-case distribution belonging to an uncertainty set of probability distributions.

Valosin‐containing protein counteracts ATP‐driven dissolution of FUS condensates through its ATPase activity in vitro

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Biomolecular condensates formed by fused in sarcoma (FUS) are dissolved by high ATP concentrations yet persist in cells. Using a reconstituted system, we demonstrate that valosin‐containing protein (VCP), an AAA+ ATPase, counteracts ATP‐driven dissolution of FUS condensates through its D2 ATPase activity.

Approximated computation of belief functions for robust design optimization [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
This paper presents some ideas to reduce the computational cost of evidence-based robust design optimization. Evidence Theory crystallizes both the aleatory and epistemic uncertainties in the design parameters, providing two quantitative measures, Belief

Epigenetic blind spots – the role of DNA methylation dynamics in stem cell‐based models of embryogenesis

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Embryo‐like structures (stembryos) are an innovative tool, but they are hindered by experimental variability and limited developmental potential. DNA methylation is crucial for mammalian development, but its status in stembryo models is poorly characterized.

Optimal allocation of intelligent parking lots in distribution system: A robust two‐stage optimization model

open access: yesIET Electrical Systems in Transportation, 2022
Electrification of transportation is one of the new ways to deal with environmental issues. In order to reach sustainable development, efficient integration of the plug‐in electric vehicles (PEVs) into the distribution network (DN) plays a significant ...

Cell geometry and membrane protein crowding constrain Escherichia coli growth rate, overflow metabolism, respiration, and maintenance energy

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
The physical dimensions and shape of bacterial cells define the surface area available to acquire nutrients and the volume available for synthesizing proteins and DNA. Here, we use computational systems biology to decode the importance of cell geometry as a major determinant of prokaryotic phenotype, including growth rate and metabolic efficiency. This

Two-Stage Robust Optimization Approach Considering Energy Storage Degradation Under High Renewable Penetration

open access: yesEnergies
The rising penetration of renewable energy introduces greater volatility and uncertainty into energy systems. Energy storage systems (ESS) play a vital role in enhancing system flexibility and stability.
