Two-way shape memory effect of a TiNiHf high temperature shape memory alloy

Journal of Alloys and Compounds, 2004
The two-way shape memory effect in a Ti36Ni49Hf15 high temperature shape memory alloy (SMA) has been systematically studied by bending tests. In the TiNiHf alloy, the martensite deformation is an effective method to get two-way shape memory effect even with a small deformation strain.

Shape memory polymer composite structures with two-way shape memory effects

Materials Letters, 2012
Abstract Shape memory polymers (SMPs) usually exhibit one-way shape memory effect. A simple and effective way to obtain two-way shape memory effect by SMP composite structures is proposed. The system consists of a SMP film with higher glass transition temperature Tg surrounded on another SMP cylindrical core with lower Tg.

Two way shape memory effect in NiTiHf high temperature shape memory alloy tubes

Acta Materialia, 2019
Abstract Two-way shape memory effect (TWSME) in nano-precipitation hardened, Ni50.3Ti29.7Hf20 high temperature shape memory alloy (HTSMA) thin walled tubes and its thermal stability were investigated. Torsional TWSME was induced by repeated thermal cycling across their martensitic transformation under applied shear stress.
