The Effect of Laser And Thermal Treatment on the Hardness and Adhesion Force on the Cermet Coating By Thermal Spray Technique

open access: yesIraqi Journal of Physics, 2019
Ceramic coating compose from a ceramic mixture (MgO, Al2O3) and metall (Al-Ni) were produced by Thermal Spray Technique. The mixed ratio of used materials Al:Ni (50%) and 40% of Al2O3 and 10% MgO. This mixture was spray on a stainless steel substrate of

Experimental and Comparative Study of the Corrosion Behavior of Lean Duplex Stainless Steel in Seawater

open access: yesMaterials and Corrosion, EarlyView.
The localized corrosion behavior of lean duplex stainless steel EN 1.4062 is systematically compared with austenitic and higher‐alloyed duplex grades in natural seawater. A clear resistance ranking is established, highlighting EN 1.4062 as a cost‐effective alternative for limited marine exposure.

Chromium Salt: A Review of Salt Formation, Hygroscopic Properties, and Impact on 316 L Corrosion in Hydrochloric Acid

open access: yesMaterials and Corrosion, EarlyView.
This article examines the impact of externally introduced chromium compounds on the localized corrosion of 316 L stainless steel in acidic chloride environments such as hydrochloric acid. While the corrosion resistance of 316 L relies on the formation of a chromium‐rich passive oxide layer, industrial conditions may expose the steel to various chromium

Identifying type 316 SS portable x-ray fluorescence gauge. [For certification of stainless Type 316 in gloveboxes] [PDF]

open access: yes, 1976
The system as assembled by LASL Group M-1 performs a quick go-no-go test to separate Type 316 stainless from other types of stainless steel. The x-ray from /sup 109/Cd excites an absorption edge x-ray from the element molybdenum which is present in Type ...

Nature of Surface Microcracks on Phosphorus Micro‐Alloyed Copper

open access: yesMaterials and Corrosion, EarlyView.
SSRT tests and microscopic characterization methods were used to study the effect of plastic deformation and environment on the formation of surface microcracks on Cu‐OFP. Results show that, while ambient conditions produced thousands of microcracks per mm2, exposure to sulfide water resulted in fewer microcracks with no evidence of crack growth ...
