Design of Offset Type Redundant Globoidal Cam

open access: yesJixie chuandong, 2017
In the actual manufacturing process of globoidal cam,due to the processing surface of globoidal cam is always considered as symmetrical structure, hence the interference between the tool and the workpiece is easy to be formed.

Development of the crossbow-type launcher for a small reconnaissance robot based on the axiomatic theorem

open access: yesJournal of Advanced Mechanical Design, Systems, and Manufacturing, 2016
Recently, the development of small reconnaissance robots has been actively studied for the purpose of remote monitoring. However, difficulties related to the robot gaining access to a distant target area have been encountered in this research area.

Design of space-type electronic power transformers [PDF]

open access: yes
Both open and encapsulated varieties of high reliability, low weight, and high efficiency moderate and high voltage transformers were investigated to determine the advantages and limitations of their construction in the ranges of power and voltage ...

Design and realisation of a MZI type polymer based high speed EO-modulator [PDF]

open access: yes, 1996
We designed a 20 GHz Mach Zehnder interferometric EO-modulator based on a new developed polyesterimide. Measurements show a V/sub /spl pi// of 7.5 V, an insertion loss of 11 dB and an extinction ratio exceeding 20 dB for an interaction length of 2 ...

Plasmodium falciparum gametogenesis essential protein 1 (GEP1) is a transmission‐blocking target

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This study shows Plasmodium falciparum GEP1 is vital for activating sexual stages of malarial parasites even independently of a mosquito factor. Knockout parasites completely fail gamete formation even when a phosphodiesterase inhibitor is added. Two single‐nucleotide polymorphisms (V241L and S263P) are found in 12%–20% of field samples.

Access Policy Design for Cognitive Secondary Users under a Primary Type-I HARQ Process

open access: yes, 2015
In this paper, an underlay cognitive radio network that consists of an arbitrary number of secondary users (SU) is considered, in which the primary user (PU) employs Type-I Hybrid Automatic Repeat Request (HARQ).

4‐nitrobenzoate inhibits 4‐hydroxybenzoate polyprenyltransferase in malaria parasites and enhances atovaquone efficacy

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Atovaquone is an antimalarial requiring potentiation for sufficient efficacy. We pursued strategies to enhance its activity, showing that 4‐nitrobenzoate inhibits 4‐hydroxybenzoate polyprenyltransferase, decreasing ubiquinone biosynthesis. Since atovaquone competes with ubiquinol in mitochondria, 4‐nitrobenzoate facilitates its action, potentiating ...

Linked dimers of the AAA+ ATPase Msp1 reveal energetic demands and mechanistic plasticity for substrate extraction from lipid bilayers

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Cells must clear mislocalized or faulty proteins from membranes to survive. The AAA+ ATPase Msp1 performs this task, but dissecting how its six subunits work together is challenging. We engineered linked dimers with varied numbers of functional subunits to reveal how Msp1 subunits cooperate and use energy to extract proteins from the lipid bilayer ...

Some Further Designs of Type O:PP [PDF]

open access: yesThe Annals of Mathematical Statistics, 1961
A new method of deriving designs of type O:PP is described. The method gives rise to some designs previously obtained by other methods, and also to some entirely new designs. These new designs are described in detail and a worked example given.

Organoids in pediatric cancer research

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Organoid technology has revolutionized cancer research, yet its application in pediatric oncology remains limited. Recent advances have enabled the development of pediatric tumor organoids, offering new insights into disease biology, treatment response, and interactions with the tumor microenvironment.
