Generative Type Design: Creating Glyphs from Typographical Skeletons

ARTECH, 2019
It is through typography that order and form, visible and durable, is given to written communication. Typography has been accompanied by new technologies, which designers and typographers have adapted.

Optimal U—Type Designs [PDF]

open access: possible, 1998
Designs with low discrepancy are of interest in many areas of statistical work. U—type designs are among the most widely studied design classes. In this paper a heuristic global optimization algorithm, Threshold Accepting, is used to find optimal U—type designs (uniform designs) or at least good approximations to uniform designs.

Types of Research Designs

Neonatal Network, 2003
THIS IS THE FIRST IN A SERIES OF columns that will address issues about research. For many of you, the information will be a concise review of familiar topics. For others, the series may serve as an introduction to some research concepts. In either case, the material will be an overview of the topics.

The Design of a Yacht-Type Chiller

Volume 7: Fluids and Heat Transfer, Parts A, B, C, and D, 2012
This study mentioned a yacht-type chiller design working between 50 and 200 kW. Ventilation and air conditioning systems on a yacht provide the conditions necessary for the proper internal medium for the staff, passengers, cargo, machinery, and auxiliary systems.

Comparing Types of Research Designs

2021
Every researcher chooses the research design that is best suited to generate the envisioned conclusions they like to draw. There are several types of research designs. Each is especially well suited to generate a specific type of conclusion. Commonly used research designs in business and management are design science, action research, single case ...

New type of block design

Journal of Combinatorial Designs, 2002
AbstractWe are already familiar with (υ, k, λ)‐difference sets and (υ, k, λ)‐designs. In this paper, we will introduce a new class of difference sets and designs: (υ, k, [λ1, λ2, … , λm])‐difference sets and (υ, k, [λ1,λ2, … , λm])‐designs. We will mainly study designs with a relationship we call λ‐equivalence and use them to produce other designs ...

A Survey of Types of Experimental Designs

Biometrics, 1950
PLANNING a piece of research in any field involves a certain order of procedure. This will in general have three parts (1) a statement of the objectives, (2) a description of the experiment covering such points as the selection of experimental treatments, decision regarding accuracy of measurements, selecting the experimental units, determining the ...

Types of Data and Designs

2018
This chapter provides an introduction into basic statistical terminology regarding different data types, measurement scales, variables, factors, and study designs, illustrated with several examples. Good scientific practice requires research reproducibility. This includes sound statistical modeling and informed choice of appropriate statistical methods

Types for the language designer (abstract)

Addendum to the proceedings on Object-oriented programming systems, languages, and applications (Addendum) - OOPSLA '92, 1992
The type systems of object-oriented languages have specific goals: they serve as partial documentation, they provide modularity, and they ensure safety and efficiency at run-time. There are many choices in the design of a type system, and it is hard to evaluate their tradeoffs. This tutorial teaches a coherent theory of type systems for object-oriented

Types of Research Designs

2015
The research design can be defined as the plan of action to be followed to answer the research question. The type of question dictates the type of study design. Primary research is research which seeks to obtain new data about the phenomena studied, while secondary research is the research which analyses the data and results of studies already done.
