Line Polarization of Si ii λ6355 Å in Type Ia Supernovae: A New Statistical Approach to Probe the Explosion Physics and Diversity

open access: yesThe Astrophysical Journal Letters
Spectropolarimetry provides a unique probe of ejecta asphericities, offering direct insights into the underlying explosion physics of Type Ia supernovae (SNe Ia).

Cosmology Constraints from Type Ia Supernova Simulations of the Nancy Grace Roman Space Telescope Strategy Recommended by the High-Latitude Time Domain Survey Definition Committee

open access: yesThe Astrophysical Journal
Within the next few years, the upcoming Nancy Grace Roman Space Telescope will be gathering data for the High-Latitude Time Domain Survey (HLTDS) that will be used to significantly improve the Type Ia supernova measurement of the dark energy equation of ...

New approaches for modeling type Ia supernovae [PDF]

open access: yes, 2007
Type Ia supernovae (SNe Ia) are the largest thermonuclearexplosions in the Universe. Their light output can be seen across greatstances and has led to the discovery that the expansion rate of theUniverse is accelerating.

Searching for Type Ia Supernovae in the Dark Energy Spectroscopic Instrument

open access: yesThe Astrophysical Journal
With the development of large-scale photometric surveys, an increasing number of supernova candidates are being discovered, leading to a rapidly growing demand for supernova spectra.

The Progenitors of Subluminous Type Ia Supernovae

open access: yes, 2001
We find that spectroscopically peculiar subluminous SNe Ia come from an old population. Of the sixteen subluminous SNe Ia known, ten are found in E/S0 galaxies, and the remainder are found in early-type spirals. The probability that this is a chance occurrence is only 0.2%.

K-corrections and Extinction Corrections for Type Ia Supernovae

open access: yes, 2007
The measurement of the cosmological parameters from Type Ia supernovae hinges on our ability to compare nearby and distant supernovae accurately. Here we present an advance on a method for performing generalized K-corrections for Type Ia supernovae ...

The Remarkable Late-time Flux Excess in Hubble Space Telescope Observations of the Type Iax Supernova 2012Z

open access: yesThe Astrophysical Journal
Type Iax supernovae (SNe Iax) are thermonuclear explosions of white dwarfs (WDs), peculiar and underluminous compared to the normal Type Ia supernovae (SNe).

Weak Lensing of Type Ia Supernovae

open access: yes, 2019
Studying weak gravitational lensing of type Ia supernovae is a valuable tool to have in cosmology. Gravitational lensing may amplify the brightness of the source, affecting the brightness distribution of observed supernovae in a non-Gaussian way. Testing
