On the origin of supernovae of type Ib [PDF]

open access: yesInternational Astronomical Union Colloquium, 1988
The issue I want to discuss is this: supernovae observed during their photospheric phases display three distinct kinds of spectra - but there are four distinct chemical compositions that should be considered for the outer layers of exploding stars. What is the correspondence between the observed supernova type and the chemical composition? The three ...

Optical Photometry of the Type Ia SN 1999ee and the Type Ib/c SN 1999ex in IC 5179 [PDF]

open access: yes, 2002
We present UBVRIz lightcurves of the Type Ia SN 1999ee and the Type Ib/c SN 1999ex, both located in the galaxy IC 5179. SN 1999ee has an extremely well sampled lightcurve spanning from 10 days before Bmax through 53 days after peak.

Model Light Curves for Type Ib and Ic Supernovae [PDF]

open access: yesThe Astrophysical Journal, 2021
Abstract Using the Monte Carlo code SEDONA, multiband photometry and spectra are calculated for supernovae derived from stripped helium stars with presupernova masses of 2.2 to 10.0 M ⊙. The models are representative of evolution in close binaries and have previously been exploded using a parameterized one-dimensional ...

The properties of SN Ib/c locations [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
Aims: To gain better insight on the physics of stripped-envelope core-collapse supernovae through studying their environments. Methods: We obtained low-resolution optical spectroscopy with the New Technology Telescope (+ EFOSC2) at the locations of 20 ...

Cobalt(II), Zinc(II), Iron(III), and Copper(II) Complexes Bearing Positively Charged Quaternary Ammonium Functionalities: Synthesis, Characterization, Electrochemical Behavior, and SOD Activity

open access: yesEuropean Journal of Inorganic Chemistry, Volume 2020, Issue 35, Page 3347-3358, September 22, 2020., 2020
Despite suitable redox potentials and positively charged ligand periphery, Fe and Co pentagonal‐bipyramidal complexes of 2,2'‐[2,6‐pyridinediylbis(ethylidyne‐1‐hydrazinyl‐2‐ylidene)]bis[N,N,N‐trimethyl‐2‐oxoethanaminium] do not possess SOD activity, whereas the Cu square‐pyramidal complex exhibits a quite high SOD catalytic rate constant, determined by

Influencing the Self‐Sorting Behavior of [2.2]Paracyclophane‐Based Ligands by Introducing Isostructural Binding Motifs

open access: yesChemistry – A European Journal, Volume 26, Issue 15, Page 3335-3347, March 12, 2020., 2020
Two isostructural ligands with either nitrile (Lnit) or isonitrile (Liso) moieties attached to a [2.2]paracyclophane backbone have been synthesized. Surprisingly, the resulting discrete metallosupramolecular aggregates formed in solution upon coordination of [(dppp)Pd(OTf)2] differ in their composition and in their chiral self‐sorting behavior.

Investigating the Observational Properties of Type Ib Supernova SN 2017iro

open access: yesThe Astrophysical Journal, 2022
Abstract We report results of optical imaging and low-resolution spectroscopic monitoring of supernova (SN) 2017iro that occurred in the nearby (∼31 Mpc) galaxy NGC 5480. The He i λ5876 feature present in the earliest spectrum (−7 days) classified it as a Type Ib SN.

Type Ia Supernovae: An Examination of Potential Progenitors and the Redshift Distribution [PDF]

open access: yes, 1997
We examine the possibility that supernovae type Ia (SN Ia) are produced by white dwarfs accreting from Roche-lobe filling evolved companions, under the assumption that a strong optically thick stellar wind from accretor is able to stabilize the mass ...

Progenitor masses of Type Ib/c supernovae [PDF]

open access: yesMonthly Notices of the Royal Astronomical Society, 1992
Recent models for the origins of Type Ib/c supernovae have proposed that the progenitors consist of relatively low-mass (M ∼ 12-18 M ⊙ ) stars in binary systems that have lost their hydrogen envelope. On the basis of the nickel mass, light curve and the amount of mixing, these models identify the low-mass end with Ic's and the higher mass end with Ib's.

Infrared Ejecta and Cold Dust in the Young Supernova Remnant N132D

open access: yesThe Astrophysical Journal, 2023
We present Spitzer, Wide-field Infrared Survey Explorer (WISE), and Herschel observations of the young supernova remnant (SNR) N132D in the Large Magellanic Cloud, including 3–40 μ m Spitzer Infrared Spectrograph (IRS) mapping, 12 μ m WISE and 70, 100 ...
