Traversable Wormholes in (2+1) and (3+1) Dimensions with a Cosmological Constant [PDF]
Macroscopic traversable wormhole solutions to Einstein's field equations in $(2+1)$ and $(3+1)$ dimensions with a cosmological constant are investigated.

This study reveals how the mitochondrial protein Slm35 is regulated in Saccharomyces cerevisiae. The authors identify stress‐responsive DNA elements and two upstream open reading frames (uORFs) in the 5′ untranslated region of SLM35. One uORF restricts translation, and its mutation increases Slm35 protein levels and mitophagy.

Cigarette filter material and polypropylene fibres in concrete to control drying shrinkage [PDF]
Due to a reduction in demand for cigarette filter material (North East UK), significant quantities have arisen that have little commercial value. The filter manufacturers have been looking for another outlet for their product and polypropylene fibre ...

In situ molecular organization and heterogeneity of the Legionella Dot/Icm T4SS
We present a nearly complete in situ model of the Legionella Dot/Icm type IV secretion system, revealing its central secretion channel and identifying new components. Using cryo‐electron tomography with AI‐based modeling, our work highlights the structure, variability, and mechanism of this complex nanomachine, advancing understanding of bacterial ...

SN 2007uy - metamorphosis of an aspheric Type Ib explosion
The supernovae of Type Ibc are rare and the detailed characteristics of these explosions have been studied only for a few events. Unlike Type II SNe, the progenitors of Type Ibc have never been detected in pre-explosion images.

A mathematical model for assessment of material requirements for cable supported bridges: implications for conceptual design [PDF]
Recent technological developments have led to improvements in the strengths of materials, such as the steel and wire ropes used in the construction of cable supported bridges.

Sequence determinants of RNA G‐quadruplex unfolding by Arg‐rich regions
We show that Arg‐rich peptides selectively unfold RNA G‐quadruplexes, but not RNA stem‐loops or DNA/RNA duplexes. This length‐dependent activity is inhibited by acidic residues and is conserved among SR and SR‐related proteins (SRSF1, SRSF3, SRSF9, U1‐70K, and U2AF1).

Plug-type heat flux gauge [PDF]
A plug-type heat flux gauge formed in a material specimen and having a thermoplug integrally formed in the material specimen, and a method for making the same are disclosed. The thermoplug is surrounded by a concentric annulus, through which thermocouple

Protodiscs around Hot Magnetic Rotator Stars
We develop equations and obtain solutions for the structure and evolution of a protodisc region that is initially formed with no radial motion and super-Keplerian rotation speed when wind material from a hot rotating star is channelled towards its ...
