Leiomyoadenomatoid tumors: A type of rare benign epididymal tumor

open access: yesUrology Case Reports, 2021
Primary tumors of the epididymis are mostly benign in nature, and the most common type is adenomatoid tumors followed by leiomyomas. Leiomyoadenomatoid tumors are very rare benign epididymal neoplasms composed of two components: gland-like structures lined by cuboidal cells and bundles of smooth muscle components.

Salivary Gland-type Tumors of the Lung [PDF]

open access: yesArchives of Pathology & Laboratory Medicine, 2021
Context.—Salivary gland-type tumors (SGTs) of the lung represent a distinct group of lung neoplasms. Pulmonary SGTs often pose diagnostic challenges, especially in small biopsy and cytology samples because of limited sample volume and overlapping morphology among pulmonary SGTs, metastatic SGTs of head and neck origin, and other lung tumors. Objective ...

Molecular classification of multiple tumor types [PDF]

open access: yesBioinformatics, 2001
Abstract Using gene expression data to classify tumor types is a very promising tool in cancer diagnosis. Previous works show several pairs of tumor types can be successfully distinguished by their gene expression patterns (Golub et al. 1999, Ben-Dor et al. 2000, Alizadeh et al. 2000).

Characteristics and survival of patients with advanced cancer and p53 mutations. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
P53 mutations are associated with invasive tumors in mouse models. We assessed the p53mutations and survival in patients with advanced cancer treated in the Phase I Program. Of 691 tested patients, 273 (39.5%) had p53 mutations.

The pitfalls and promise of liquid biopsies for diagnosing and treating solid tumors in children : a review [PDF]

open access: yes, 2020
Cell-free DNA profiling using patient blood is emerging as a non-invasive complementary technique for cancer genomic characterization. Since these liquid biopsies will soon be integrated into clinical trial protocols for pediatric cancer treatment ...

Identification of human papillomavirus DNA in cutaneous lesions of Cowden syndrome [PDF]

open access: yes, 2003
Background: Cowden syndrome (CS) or multiple hamartoma syndrome is a cancer-associated genodermatosis inherited in an autosomal dominant pattern. One of the diagnostic criteria is facial papules which are felt to be trichilemmomas, benign hair follicle ...

α-Smooth muscle actin expression in cancerassociated fibroblasts in canine epithelial tumors [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
Tumor tissues contain not only cancer cells but also other cell types including, fibroblasts, immune cells, and endothelial cells, which interact with cancer cells.

RRx-001, an epigenetic-based radio- and chemosensitizer, has vascular normalizing effects on SCCVII and U87 tumors. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
BackgroundThe tumor-specific microregional effects of the anticancer agent RRx-001, a novel epigenetic-based radio/chemosensitizer with nitrogen oxide-donating properties in phase II clinical trials, were investigated with whole tissue section ...

Expression of PIK3CA mutant E545K in the mammary gland induces heterogeneous tumors but is less potent than mutant H1047R. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
The phosphoinositide 3-kinase (PI3K) signaling cascade is a key mediator of cellular growth, survival and metabolism and is frequently subverted in human cancer.
