Leiomyoadenomatoid tumors: A type of rare benign epididymal tumor

open access: yesUrology Case Reports, 2021
Primary tumors of the epididymis are mostly benign in nature, and the most common type is adenomatoid tumors followed by leiomyomas. Leiomyoadenomatoid tumors are very rare benign epididymal neoplasms composed of two components: gland-like structures lined by cuboidal cells and bundles of smooth muscle components.

Salivary Gland-type Tumors of the Lung [PDF]

open access: yesArchives of Pathology & Laboratory Medicine, 2021
Context.— Salivary gland-type tumors (SGTs) of the lung represent a distinct group of lung neoplasms. Pulmonary SGTs often pose diagnostic challenges, especially in small biopsy and cytology samples because of limited sample volume and overlapping morphology among pulmonary SGTs, metastatic SGTs of head and neck

Molecular classification of multiple tumor types [PDF]

open access: yesBioinformatics, 2001
Abstract Using gene expression data to classify tumor types is a very promising tool in cancer diagnosis. Previous works show several pairs of tumor types can be successfully distinguished by their gene expression patterns (Golub et al. 1999, Ben-Dor et al. 2000, Alizadeh et al. 2000).

Adult‐type granulosa cell tumor: An unusual testicular tumor [PDF]

open access: yesClinical Case Reports, 2021
Abstract Adult type granulosa cell tumours are extremely rare. Albeit mostly benign, 10% have malignant potential associated with unfavorable pathological features. The present case with the longest history duration, shows that size alone may not necessarily be unfavorable prognosticator when not associated with other factors.

A NAIL TUMOR OF UNUSUAL TYPE [PDF]

open access: yesArchives of Dermatology and Syphilology, 1922

REPORT OF CASES Case 1.— The patient was a young woman, under the care of my friend, Dr. H. L. Chambers, and the affection, which involved the nail of the left thumb,

Brain tumors in neurofibromatosis type 1 [PDF]

open access: yesNeuro-Oncology Advances, 2019
AbstractAbstractAs a cancer predisposition syndrome, individuals with neurofibromatosis type 1 (NF1) are at increased risk for the development of both benign and malignant tumors. One of the most common locations for these cancers is the central nervous system, where low-grade gliomas predominate in children.

The human tumor microbiome is composed of tumor type–specific intracellular bacteria

open access: yesScience, 2020
Profiling tumor bacteria Bacteria are well-known residents in human tumors, but whether their presence is advantageous to the tumors or to the bacteria themselves has been unclear. As an initial step toward addressing this question, Nejman et al.

Juvenile Type Granulosa Cell Tumor

open access: yesSerbian Journal of Experimental and Clinical Research, 2018
Abstract Granulosa cell tumor is a type of neoplasm, which represents 2-5% of all ovarian cancers. About 5% of these tumors are juvenile- type and usually occur to girls before puberty and to women younger than thirty years of age. There are signs premature puberty or premature emergence of secondary sexual characteristics with irregular

An evolutionary–type model for tumor immunotherapy

open access: yesIFAC-PapersOnLine, 2015
In this paper we propose a new dynamical model for describing the interactions between immune and tumor cells. This model captures the effects of the tumor cells on the immune system and viceversa, through predator-prey competition terms. Additionally, it incorporates the immune system's mechanism to produce hunting immune cells, which makes the model ...

Targeting HER2 in other tumor types

open access: yesAnnals of Oncology, 2001
The human epidermal growth factor receptor-2 (HER2) is overexpressed/amplified in a range of tumor types including breast, ovarian, bladder, salivary gland, endometrial, pancreatic and non-small-cell lung cancer (NSCLC). HER2 is implicated in disease initiation and progression, associated with poor prognosis, and may also predict the response to ...
