Primary Pulmonary Mesenchymal Neoplasm With EWSR1::CREM Fusion: Cytologic Findings and Molecular Diagnosis

open access: yesDiagnostic Cytopathology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Primary pulmonary mesenchymal neoplasms with EWSR1::CREM fusion are rare. These lesions are challenging to diagnose by morphology and immunohistochemistry alone. Case A 66‐year‐old woman (ex‐smoker) was found to have a 1.3‐cm right lower lobe lung nodule that had grown very slowly over a 9‐year period.

Cytologic, Clinicopathologic, and Histologic Findings in a Dog with a Gallbladder Neuroendocrine Carcinoma and Multiple Endocrinopathies

open access: yesVeterinary Clinical Pathology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT A 10‐year‐old spayed female Shih Tzu was evaluated for a gallbladder mass incidentally identified during a diagnostic workup for hyperadrenocorticism and persistent hypercalcemia. Diagnostic imaging revealed a vascularized intraluminal gallbladder mass, and cytologic examination showed cohesive clusters of epithelial cells with distinct ...

Delayed Recurrence of Atypical Pulmonary Carcinoid Cluster: A Rare Occurrence

open access: yesCase Reports in Pulmonology, 2014
Carcinoid is one of the most common tumors of the gastrointestinal tract followed by the tracheobronchial tree. Bronchial carcinoid compromises 20% of total carcinoid and accounts for 1–5% of pulmonary malignancies.

Primary pulmonary salivary gland‐type tumors in cytopathology practice: A systematic review and meta‐analysis

open access: yesCancer Cytopathology, Volume 134, Issue 10, October 2026.
Abstract Background Primary pulmonary salivary gland‐type tumors (PSGTs) are rare but clinically significant tumors that originate from the submucosal glands of the tracheobronchial tree. Cytologic samples taken during bronchoscopy are a key component of preoperative evaluation. However, cytologic diagnosis remains challenging because of the submucosal

Synchronous Bilateral Multiple Typical Pulmonary Carcinoid Tumors

open access: yes, 2010
Synchronous bilateral multiple carcinoid tumors of the lung are uncommon. We report an unusual case of synchronous, bilateral, and multiple typical pulmonary carcinoids. A 58-year-old woman with cough and chest pain was admitted to our clinic. A thoracic

Bronchial carcinoid tumor managed with bronchial artery embolization before endobronchial resection: A case report

open access: yesThoracic Cancer, 2021
Endobronchial resection using a bronchoscope is often selected as treatment for carcinoid tumors located in the central airways. However, massive bleeding is one of the most serious complications during bronchoscopic surgery.

Outcomes of patients with metastatic neuroendocrine lung neoplasms: typical versus atypical carcinoids

open access: yesBrazilian Journal of Oncology, 2021
Introduction: Well-differentiated neuroendocrine pulmonary tumours (NETp) are morphologically classified as typical carcinoid (TC) and atypical carcinoid (AC). There are limited data on systemic treatment for metastatic disease.

Complementary Breath Profiling Using eNose and Gas Chromatography‐Mass Spectrometry for Noninvasive Triage of Indeterminate Pulmonary Nodules

open access: yesMedComm, Volume 7, Issue 10, October 2026.
Flow diagram illustrating participant inclusion and exclusion for the eNose and GC‐MS analyses. Of the 98 prospectively enrolled participants, 79 were eligible for the eNose analysis after the exclusion of 14 participants because of procedural or eligibility issues, four without breath samples, and one without a valid eNose recording.

Diffuse Intrapulmonary Neuroendocrine Cell Hyperplasia

open access: yesCanadian Respiratory Journal, 2013
Diffuse intrapulmonary neuroendocrine cell hyperplasia is a rare, potential precursor lesion to typical pulmonary carcinoid tumours. Fewer than 50 cases have been reported in the literature.

International trends in pulmonary neuroendocrine cancer studies:a scientometric study

open access: yesEinstein (São Paulo), 2022
Introduction Pulmonary neuroendocrine tumors account for approximately 20% of all primary lung tumors. Few studies summarize the current body of pulmonary neuroendocrine tumors studies worldwide.
