The double modal construction in English world wide

open access: yesWorld Englishes, EarlyView.
Abstract The dual foci of the present study of double modals are their semantic characteristics and their distribution across regional varieties of English world wide. Tokens were extracted from GloWbE:Blogs, a database whose great size and informal tenor facilitated the investigation of this low‐frequency non‐standard feature. Double modals were found

Generalization of k.p theory for periodic perturbations

open access: yes, 2000
We extend standard k.p theory to take into account periodic perturbations which are rapidly oscillating with a wavelength of a few lattice constants. Our general formalism allows us to explicitly consider the Bragg reflections due to the perturbation ...

Automated Scoring of Creative Achievement

open access: yesThe Journal of Creative Behavior, Volume 60, Issue 2, June 2026.

The Elbe Estuary Microbiome Shifts With Salinity and Discharge and Depends on Fresh Organic Matter and Nutrient Availability

open access: yesEnvironmental Microbiology Reports, Volume 18, Issue 3, June 2026.
Microbial diversity within the Elbe Estuary was found to be more strongly governed by seasonal variability, salinity, and discharge than by spatial heterogeneity. Oligohaline regions sustain high diversity, while nutrient and redox conditions drive functional shifts.

Phase‐Engineered CuS on rGO Nanoflowers Directs Selectivity From Formate to Ethanol

open access: yesChemElectroChem, Volume 13, Issue 9, 5 May 2026.
Copper sulfide nanoflowers grown on reduced graphene oxide undergo a phase transition to metastable digenite (Cu7.2S4), enabling efficient CO2 electroreduction. The optimized catalyst achieves 82% Faradaic efficiency for formate, while tuning rGO content shifts selectivity toward ethanol.
