Tensile-Tearing Fracture Analysis of U-Notched Spruce Samples
Spruce wood (Picea Mariana) is a highly orthotropic material whose fracture behavior in the presence of U-shaped notches and under combined tensile-tearing loading (so-called mixed-mode I/III loading) is analyzed in this work. Thus, several tests are carried out on U-notched samples with different notch tip radii (1 mm, 2 mm, and 4 mm) under various ...

Notch-mediated hepatocyte MCP-1 secretion causes liver fibrosis
Patients with nonalcoholic steatohepatitis (NASH) have increased expression of liver monocyte chemoattractant protein-1 (MCP-1), but its cellular source and contribution to various aspects of NASH pathophysiology remain debated. We demonstrated increased

Mode I fatigue limit of V- and U-notches(
Abstract The fatigue limit of structures containing V- and U-notches is assessed through the coupled stress-energy criterion of Finite Fracture Mechanics (FFM). The analysis is limited to mode I loading conditions. The FFM criterion is a critical-distance-based approach whose implementation requires the knowledge of two material properties, namely ...

Numerical Simulation of Fatigue Cracking of Diaphragm Notch in Orthotropic Steel Deck Model
Orthotropic steel deck (OSD) are widely used in steel bridges because of their many advantages, but the structures and stresses of OSD are complex and sensitive to fatigue. Based on the model test, the structural fatigue analysis of OSD is carried out by

High-strength steels (HSSs) with nominal yield stress not less than 460 MPa have been increasingly employed in bridge structures. Compared with SM490 normal-strength steel (NSS), HSSs, including SBHS500 and SM570, have higher strength but lower ductility,

Analysis of Notch Effect in 3D-Printed ABS Fracture Specimens Containing U-Notches [PDF]
In this paper a fracture assessment in additive manufactured acrylonitrile butadiene styrene (ABS) fracture specimens containing U-notches is performed. We performed 33 fracture tests and 9 tensile tests, combining five different notch radii (0 mm, 0.25 mm, 0.50 mm, 1 mm and 2 mm) and three different raster orientations: 0/90, 30/−60 and 45/−45.
