UPb geochronology of the Sri Lankan basement

Precambrian Research, 1994
Abstract UPb ages of zircons and monazites from ortho- and paragneisses representing the major crystalline basement units of Sri Lanka establish a new geochronological framework, which is consistent with previously published work on SmNd model ages, RbSr whole-rock ages, and UPb mineral ages.

Accurate and precise in situ U–Pb isotope dating of wolframite series minerals via LA-SF-ICP-MS

, 2020
We present an analytical protocol for in situ U–Pb isotope dating of wolframite series minerals [(Fe,Mn)WO4], the main ore mineral for tungsten, by LA-SF-ICP-MS.

LA-ICP-MS U-Pb geochronology and clumped isotope constraints on the formation and evolution of an ancient dolomite reservoir: The Middle Permian of northwest Sichuan Basin (SW China)

, 2020
Recent advances in laser-ablation inductively coupled-plasma mass spectrometry (LA-ICP-MS) in-situ U-Pb radiometric dating and clumped isotope thermometry (Δ47) of carbonate minerals provide potential for refining the fluid flow and diagenetic history of

Initiation of Zn-Pb mineralization in the Pingbao Pb-Zn skarn district, South China: Constraints from U-Pb dating of grossular-rich garnet

Ore Geology Reviews, 2019
In this study, we discuss the application of U-Pb dating on U-rich, common-Pb bearing grossular-rich garnet and the issues of common Pb correction. Grossular-rich garnet samples were collected from the Baoshan and Huangshaping areas of the Pingbao skarn ...

U-Pb Zircon Dating of Ash Fall Deposits from the Paleozoic Paraná Basin of Brazil and Uruguay: A Reevaluation of the Stratigraphic Correlations

The Journal of geology, 2019
Ash fall layers and vitroclastic-carrying sediments distributed throughout the entire Permian stratigraphic range of the Paraná Basin (Brazil and Uruguay) occur in the Tubarão Supergroup (Rio Bonito Formation) and the Passa Dois Group (Irati, Estrada ...

Zircon recrystallisation microstructures andthe implications for U-Pb dating

2021
<p>Uranium-lead dating of zircon has been used extensively in geochronological studies based on the widespread occurrence of zircon and its resistance to chemical and physical weathering. Previous research has shown that despite their apparent robustness, many zircons contain evidence for recrystallisation, such as the replacement of the ...

Paragenesis and U-Pb systematics of baddeleyite (ZrO2)

Chemical Geology, 1993
The mineral baddeleyite (ZrO2) occurs in many terrestrial and lunar samples and some achondrite meteorites as a trace constituent that most often crystallizes in the late-stage, most chemically fractionated portions of mafic magmas together with apatite, ilmenite, ± zircon, ± zirconolite.

Unveiling growth histories of multi-generational garnet in a single skarn deposit via newly-developed LA-ICP-MS U Pb dating of grandite

Gondwana Research, 2019
Although garnet U Pb dating method has been reported recently, yet the accurate concordia 206Pb/238U ages and growth histories of multi generation of garnets based on ages were still lacked. LA-ICP-MS U Pb dating on multi-generational grandite (grossular-

Trace Element (Mn‐Sr‐Y‐Th‐REE) and U‐Pb Isotope Systematics of Metapelitic Apatite During Progressive Greenschist‐ to Amphibolite‐Facies Barrovian Metamorphism

Geochemistry Geophysics Geosystems, 2019
We investigate the trace element and U‐Pb systematics of apatite of 19 samples of metapelites and calcareous metapelites from two progressive metamorphic sequences from the Central Alps to further understanding of the behavior and stability of apatite ...

Rb–Sr and U–Pb dating of bentonites

Canadian Journal of Earth Sciences, 1983
A 6 in. (15 cm) bentonite in the Z coal (Cretaceous–Tertiary boundary) in eastern Montana was sampled at four different places, and biotite, sanidine, and zircon were separated from the clay. U–Pb analyses of purified zircons yielded small systematic variations from concordant U–Pb dates.
