Adjunctive Therapeutic Plasma Exchange in Refractory Adult‐Onset Still's Disease Complicated by Secondary Macrophage Activation Syndrome: A Single‐Center Experience

open access: yesTherapeutic Apheresis and Dialysis, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Introduction Adult‐onset Still's disease (AOSD) complicated by macrophage activation syndrome (MAS) carries substantial mortality. The role of therapeutic plasma exchange (TPE) remains uncertain. Methods We retrospectively analyzed patients with AOSD‐MAS treated with TPE at a single‐center.

Sequence determinants of RNA G‐quadruplex unfolding by Arg‐rich regions

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We show that Arg‐rich peptides selectively unfold RNA G‐quadruplexes, but not RNA stem‐loops or DNA/RNA duplexes. This length‐dependent activity is inhibited by acidic residues and is conserved among SR and SR‐related proteins (SRSF1, SRSF3, SRSF9, U1‐70K, and U2AF1).

Performance Evaluation of Throatless Gasifier Using Pine Needles as a Feedstock for Power Generation

open access: yesActa Technologica Agriculturae, 2016
This paper deals with the performance evaluation of a throatless gasifier TG-SI-10E. Evaluation of the throatless gasifier was done in three streams, which were the thermal, design and economic aspects.

Disturbances of metabolic homeostasis is liver disease.

open access: yesActa Médica Portuguesa, 1981
The liver occupies a major role in metabolic homeostasis with important functions in carbohydrate, fat and protein metabolism. Abnormalities in glucose homeostasis are common in all forms of liver disease although fasting hypoglycaemia is surprisingly ...

Angular Analysis of the B^{+}→K^{*+}μ^{+}μ^{-} Decay.

open access: yesPhysical Review Letters, 2021
We present an angular analysis of the B^{+}→K^{*+}(→K_{S}^{0}π^{+})μ^{+}μ^{-} decay using 9  fb^{-1} of pp collision data collected with the LHCb experiment.

Dual targeting of RET and SRC synergizes in RET fusion‐positive cancer cells

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Despite the strong activity of selective RET tyrosine kinase inhibitors (TKIs), resistance of RET fusion‐positive (RET+) lung cancer and thyroid cancer frequently occurs and is mainly driven by RET‐independent bypass mechanisms. Son et al. show that SRC TKIs significantly inhibit PAK and AKT survival signaling and enhance the efficacy of RET TKIs in ...

Signature of gravity waves in polarization of the microwave background [PDF]

open access: yes, 1996
Using spin-weighted decomposition of polarization in the cosmic microwave background (CMB) we show that a particular combination of Stokes $Q$ and $U$ parameters vanishes for primordial fluctuations generated by scalar modes, but does not for those ...

Perspectives in educating molecular pathologists on liquid biopsy: Toward integrative, equitable, and decentralized precision oncology

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Liquid biopsy enables minimally invasive, real‐time molecular profiling through analysis of circulating biomarkers in biological fluids. This Perspective highlights the importance of training pathologists through integrative educational programs, such as the European Masters in Molecular Pathology, to ensure effective and equitable implementation of ...

Traffic noise measurements in antwerp and brussels and their relation with annoyance

open access: yesArchives of Acoustics, 2016
This work is a part of a large scale traffic noise survey in two Belgian cities: Antwerp and Brussels. A social survey (interviews of 1800 persons) was coupled with intensive acoustical measurements (40 places in Antwerp and 25 in Brussels, covering ...
