PNIPAm-based microgels with a UCST response

Polymer, 2017
Abstract Thermoresponsive microgels with an upper critical solution temperature (UCST) response (i.e., showing volume expansion at higher temperature) are highly desirable for a variety of applications, but quite uncommon, in particular if they are to work in physiological conditions.

Design of UCST Polymers for Chilling Capture of Proteins

Biomacromolecules, 2013
Ureido-derivatized polymers, such as poly(allylurea) (PU) and poly(L-citrulline) derivatives, exhibited upper critical solution temperature (UCST) behavior under physiological buffer conditions as we previously reported. The PU derivatives having amino groups (PU-Am) also showed UCST behavior.

Universe Condensate Space Theory, UCST, April 2025

2023
Theory I-13, Unified Framework for Gravity and Electromagnetism Gravity and electromagnetism (EMF) exhibit analogous structures: Gravity Gravity: Requires EMF entities (mass A, mass B) at each end of the force, forming a direct bridge between A and B. Forms a direct bridge between points A and B.

Thermoresponsive Gold Nanoparticles with Positive UCST‐Type Thermoresponsivity

Macromolecular Chemistry and Physics, 2014
Trithiocarbonate end‐functionalized poly(N‐acryloylglycinamide) (PNAGA), synthesized via reversible addition–fragmentation transfer (RAFT) polymerization of different molecular weights, is grafted onto gold nanoparticles (AuNPs) by ligand exchange in phosphate‐buffered saline.

Synthesis of Thermo‐Responsive Polymers With Both Tunable UCST and LCST

Macromolecular Rapid Communications, 2011
AbstractNew water‐soluble block copolymers of 2‐(2‐methoxyethoxy)ethyl methacrylate (MEO2MA), oligo(ethylene glycol) methacrylate (OEGMA), and N‐(3‐(dimethylamino) propyl) methacrylamide (DMAPMA) (poly(OEGMA‐co‐MEO2MA)‐b‐poly(DMAPMA)) were prepared via sequential reversible addition‐fragmentation chain transfer (RAFT) polymerization.

Polyacrylamide “revisited”: UCST-type reversible thermoresponsive properties in aqueous alcoholic solutions

Soft Matter, 2018
Polyacrylamide shows experimentally a UCST-type phase transition behaviour in water/alcohol mixtures, which was confirmed by molecular dynamics simulations.

RAFT Synthesis in Water of Cationic Polyelectrolytes with Tunable UCST

Macromolecular Rapid Communications, 2015
Cationic polyelectrolytes showing an upper critical solution temperature (UCST) are synthesized by reversible addition‐fragmentation chain transfer (RAFT) polymerization in water at a temperature well above the UCST. The polymerization is well controlled by the RAFT process, with excellent pseudo‐first‐order kinetics.
