Using X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) will distinguish urea formaldehyde (UF) resin on the surface of medium density fibreboard (MDF) fibre. High spatial resolution XPS imaging was employed to 2-dimensionally map the presence and concentration of carbon and nitrogen on pressed MDF fibre.
