Intra-articular replacement of the caudal cruciate ligament using an UHMWPE ligament under arthroscopic guidance in a dog: A case report

open access: yesOpen Veterinary Journal, 2023
Background: As isolated ruptures of the caudal cruciate ligament (CdCL) are rare in dogs, there is no consensus on the indications and the gold-standard surgical technique for treatment.

Water‐Borne Erosion of Reinforced Polymer Composites: Application to Shallow Offshore Marine Environment

open access: yesPolymer Composites, Volume 47, Issue 5, Page 4102-4126, 10 March 2026.
Comparison of experimental and model‐predicted erosion rates for carbon fibre‐reinforced polymer (CFRP) and glass fibre‐reinforced polymer (GFRP) under low‐velocity (2 m/s) and at varying angles and sand concentrations (0.0, 0.05, 0.4 g/L). The results demonstrate good agreement between experimental data and model predictions across different erosive ...

Dead Matter, Living Machines: Repurposing Crustaceans' Abdomen Exoskeleton for Bio‐Hybrid Robots

open access: yesAdvanced Science, Volume 13, Issue 15, 13 March 2026.
Crustacean exoskeletons, repurposed from food waste, are engineered into sustainable bending actuators combining biotic structure with synthetic control. The augmented exoskeletons achieve rapid and robust motion with lightweight body and can be used as part of robotic manipulators, grippers and swimmers.

Surface cross‐linked UHMWPE using peroxides [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Orthopaedic Research, 2017
ABSTRACTCrosslinking of ultra‐high molecular weight polyethylene (UHMWPE) has been successfully used to improve its wear performance. Wear is a surface phenomenon and limiting crosslinking to a layer only on the surface is desirable, as crosslinking of the bulk of the implant reduces its mechanical strength and toughness.
