Characterization and Combustion Analysis of Densified Fuel Briquettes Made from Bio-Waste Materials

open access: yesEngineering Proceedings
In this study, fallen leaves of Azadirachta indica and Prunus dulcis were treated as waste materials for the production of energy-intensive bio-coal briquettes.

On ultimate strength of an inland waterway barge [PDF]

open access: yesFME Transactions, 2023
Due to the sudden nature of hull girder collapse caused by extreme loadings, the ultimate strength of ships, i.e., ultimate capacity, has to be evaluated.

Stability and $\ell^2$-gain Analysis of Adaptive Control Systems with Event-triggered Try-once-discard Protocols

open access: yes, 2018
This paper addresses the stability and $\ell^2$-gain analysis of adaptive control systems with event-triggered try-once-discard protocols. At every sampling time, an event trigger evaluates an error between the current value and the last released value ...

An Adaptive Human Pilot Model With Reaction Time Delay for Enhanced Adaptive Control in Piloted Systems

open access: yesInternational Journal of Adaptive Control and Signal Processing, EarlyView.
This work introduces an adaptive human pilot model that captures pilot time‐delay effects in adaptive control systems. The model enables the prediction of pilot–controller interactions, facilitating safer integration and improved design of adaptive controllers for piloted applications.

Dynamic Precipitation during High‐Pressure Torsion of a Magnesium–Manganese Alloy

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
An ultrafine‐grained alloy is produced by high‐pressure torsion of solutionized Mg–1.35 wt% Mn. Precipitation of nanometer‐scale Mn particles during deformation provides pinning sites. This prevents the formation of a bimodal grain structure and results in a finer grain size than for pure Mg.

Understanding the Effect of Resistance Temperature Detector Temperature Controllers on Microstructural Alignment in Magnetic Freeze Casting

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
The effect of temperature controllers that are commonly used in freeze‐casting is investigated in this work. Temperature controllers are observed to generate a voltage in the slurry. Microstructural alignment and ultimate compressive strength data show this voltage to interfere with the ability to align the microstructure using magnetic fields ...

Hyaluronate levels in donor organ washout effluents: a simple and predictive parameter of graft viability [PDF]

open access: yes, 1996
The principal cause of primary non-function in orthotopic liver transplantation is thought to be preservation injury to the microvasculature. We, therefore, evaluated if effluent levels of hyaluronate, whose uptake is an endothelial cell marker, could ...
