Ultimate Torque of Reinforced Rectangular Beams

Journal of the Structural Division, 1968
An extensive investigation of plain and reinforced concrete beams subjected to torsion is being reported in a series of papers. Presented is an ultimate torque theory for reinforced concrete rectangular members based on the observed behavior of 53 test specimens.

Estimation of ultimate torque capacity of the SFRC beams using ANN

Structural Engineering and Mechanics, 2015
In this study, in order to propose an efficient model to predict the torque capacity of steel fiber reinforced concrete (SFRC) beams, the existing experimental data related to torsional response of beams is reviewed. It is observed that existing data neglects the effects of some parameters on the variation of torque capacity.

Study on Ultimate Performance of Light-duty Electro-Hydraulic Torque-Load Simulator

2008 IEEE Conference on Robotics, Automation and Mechatronics, 2008
In order to improve the ultimate performance of Light-Duty Load Simulator, a design with electro-hydraulic loading scheme is discussed in this paper. Some key points of the mechanism of Light-Duty Electro-Hydraulic Load Simulator (HLS) are researched and revealed.

Analytical Method for Evaluating Ultimate Torque of FRP Strengthened Reinforced Concrete Beams

Journal of Composites for Construction, 2007
The behavior of fiber reinforced polymer (FRP) strengthened reinforced concrete beams subjected to torsional loads has not been well understood compared to other loads. Interaction of different components of concrete, steel, and FRP in addition to the complex compatibility issues associated with torsional deformations have made it difficult to provide ...

The effect of repeated torque on the ultimate tensile strength of slotted gold prosthetic screws

The Journal of Prosthetic Dentistry, 2002
Repeated torque may alter the mechanical properties and fracture resistance of certain prosthetic retaining screws. This study evaluated the effect of repeated torque and salivary contamination on the ultimate tensile strength of one type of slotted gold prosthetic retaining screw.Forty-five slotted gold prosthetic screws from the same manufacturer ...

Nonlinear thermo-mechanical coupled analysis of high temperature effect on strength, contact stress and ultimate torque of tool joint

International Journal of Pressure Vessels and Piping, 2020
Abstract In this study, a NC35 tool joint with double shoulder is considered as the research object and studied by finite element method (FEM) using nonlinear thermo-mechanical coupled model and implicit & explicit conversion method. Von mises stress field, temperature field, contact stress, and ultimate working torque of tool joint under different ...

A theoretical investigation of ultimate torque as calculated by truss theory and by the Russian ultimate equilibrium method

Magazine of Concrete Research, 1971
Synopsis An analysis is given of the distribution of forces in reinforced concrete elements under pure torsion. It is assumed that the elements are under-reinforced and that failure is initiated by yielding of reinforcement. Two methods of calculation are taken into consideration, the space truss analogy and the ‘ultimate equilibrium method’ as ...

Determination of Ultimate Torque and Twist of High Strength RC Beams with Ferrocement “U” Wraps: Different Approaches

ASPS Conference Proceedings, 2022
Designers are more interested in strength at cracking rather than ultimate strength. Still then beyond cracking, the structures are able to sustain more loads. So, determination of ultimate strength is an important parameter in design field. Evaluation of ultimate torsional capacity of high strength distressed beams with ferrocement “U” wrap has been ...

Development of a Simplified Procedure for the Determination of the Ultimate Load and Associated Spindle Torque of Propeller Blades

Journal of Ship Research, 2016
Blade deflection observed in experiments regarding the ultimate strength of controllable pitch propeller blades does not agree with the one that is assumed in the load case for the blade failure load currently defined in the Polar Class Rules. The reason is that a failure of the blade tip due to large plastic deformation is not taken into account, but ...
