Probing the Nonrandom Aluminum Distribution in Zeolite Merlinoite with Ultra-High-Field (18.8 T) 27Al and 29Si MAS NMR

open access: yes, 2019
Two crystallographically distinct tetrahedral Al sites in zeolite merlinoite are directly identified by ultra-high-field (18.8 T) (27) Al MAS NMR spectroscopy. The experimental chemical shifts and peak areas indicate a preferential siting of Al in site T-

Liquid Phase Transmission Electron Microscopy: A Window into the Early Stages of Complex Material Formation

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Liquid‐phase transmission electron microscopy enables direct observation of nucleation and growth processes in solution. This review is dedicated to the remembrance of Helmut Cölfen and highlights recent studies on complex materials—oxides, biominerals, organic–inorganic crystals—which were central to his research activity. It summarizes key milestones,

Magnetic Resonance Spectroscopy at ultra-high field in humans

open access: yes, 2012
MR spectroscopy (MRS) has gained an important place in fundamental research as well as in clinical research. In vivo MR spectroscopy provides a unique window to measure the concentration of chemical compounds (metabolites) inside the human body without ...

Strain‐Programmable Luminescent Adhesive Patch With Tartrazine‐Mediated Optical Skin Clearing for Photochemical Tissue Bonding

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
We propose a suture‐complementary approach that integrates optical skin clearing with a strain‐programmable luminescent adhesive patch. Hyaluronic acid promotes transdermal delivery of tartrazine to improve optical clearing and stabilizes its interaction with a photosensitizer. Optical clearing increases the penetration depth of visible light into skin,

Bunching enhancement for coherent harmonic generation by using phase merging effects

open access: yesMatter and Radiation at Extremes
In this paper, promising but simple schemes are investigated to enhance the micro-bunching of relativistic electron beams for coherent harmonic generation (CHG) by using phase merging effects.

Broadband Polarization-Independent Edge Couplers With High Efficiency Based on SiN-Si Dual-Stage Structure

open access: yesIEEE Photonics Journal
Silicon nitride (SiN) plays a critical role in silicon photonics because of its lower refractive index, low waveguide loss, broad operating bandwidth and compatibility with complementary metal oxide semiconductor (CMOS) fabrication process.

Oxygen‐Tunnel Indium Tin Oxide Vertical Channel Transistors with Enhanced Current Density and Reliability for Monolithic 3D Compute‐In‐Memory Systems

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Oxygen‐tunnel (OT) indium tin oxide (ITO) vertical channel transistors (VCTs) enable reliable, high‐density gain‐cell memory for monolithic 3D integration. A sandwiched SiN/SiO2/SiN OT stack selectively regulates oxygen transport, suppressing parasitic electrode oxidation while stabilizing channel oxygen vacancies, thereby suppressing carrier injection

Pulsed arterial spin labelling at ultra-high field with a B1 +-optimised adiabatic labelling pulse

open access: yes, 2016
Arterial spin labelling (ASL) techniques benefit from the increased signal-to-noise ratio and the longer T 1 relaxation times available at ultra-high field.
