Terahertz Modulation of Even-order Polarization in GaAs
The application of electric fields induces changes in the symmetry of crystals, which can be observed spectroscopically as variations in the even harmonic generation. In this study, we report the ultrafast modulation of GaAs crystal symmetry using strong

Karl Popper and the Mechanisms of Hydrogen Embrittlement
Representation of the beginning of loss of ductility rather than embrittlement. Small concentrations of hydrogen in a diffusible form within iron are well‐established to harm the mechanical integrity of steels. There are theories that attempt to explain the pernicious role of hydrogen.

We develop a data‐driven method to derive the mathematical expressions of the Flory–Huggins interaction parameter χ for the swelling behavior of temperature–responsive hydrogels. Starting from initial assumptions of χ, our workflow combines Bayesian optimization, Flory–Rehner theory, and symbolic regression to generate candidate χ expressions.

Octave-wide broadening of ultraviolet dispersive wave driven by soliton-splitting dynamics
Coherent dispersive wave emission, as an important phenomenon of soliton dynamics, manifests itself in multiple platforms of nonlinear optics from fibre waveguides to integrated photonics. Limited by its resonance nature, efficient generation of coherent

Ultra High Field Magnetic Resonance Imaging
Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) is a modern medical diagnostic tool. MRI does not put any strain on the health of the person being examined which is not a case with X ray diagnostics, computer tomography (CT) or positron emission tomography (PET).

Optimization of the Production of Rubber Compounds Using Mathematical Models
Rubber compounds were mixed in a batch internal mixer, and symbolic regression was used to derive mathematical models linking recipe and process parameters to ram path, torque, and mixing quality (incorporation, dispersion, distribution). Subsequent optimization with evolutionary algorithms identified operating conditions that reduce specific energy ...
