Crucial parameters for precise copy number variation detection in formalin‐fixed paraffin‐embedded solid cancer samples

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This study shows that copy number variations (CNVs) can be reliably detected in formalin‐fixed paraffin‐embedded (FFPE) solid cancer samples using ultra‐low‐pass whole‐genome sequencing, provided that key (pre)‐analytical parameters are optimized.

TeV gamma rays and cosmic rays from the nucleus of M87, a mis-aligned BL Lac object [PDF]

open access: yes, 2002
The unresolved nuclear region of M87 emits strong non-thermal emission from radio to X-rays. Assuming this emission to originate in the pc scale jet aligned at $\theta \sim 30^\circ$ to the line of sight, we interpret this emission in the context of the ...

Experimental and numerical investigation of the fatigue behaviour and crack evolution mechanism of granite under ultra-high-frequency loading

open access: yesRoyal Society Open Science, 2020
Assisted ultrasonic vibration technology has received great interest in the past few years for petroleum and mining engineering related to hard rock breaking.

Phenotypic and genotypic characterization of single circulating tumor cells in the follow‐up of high‐grade serous ovarian cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Single circulating tumor cells (sCTCs) from high‐grade serous ovarian cancer patients were enriched, imaged, and genomically profiled using WGA and NGS at different time points during treatment. sCTCs revealed enrichment of alterations in Chromosomes 2, 7, and 12 as well as persistent or emerging oncogenic CNAs, supporting sCTC identity.

Passive ultra high frequency radio frequency identification systems for single-item identification in food supply chains

open access: yesJournal of Agricultural Engineering, 2017
In the food industry, composition, size, and shape of items are much less regular than in other commodities sectors. In addition, a wide variety of packaging, composed by different materials, is employed. As material, size and shape of items to which the

Ventricular activation pattern assessment during right ventricular pacing: Ultra‐high‐frequency ECG study

open access: yesCardiovascular Electrophysiology, 2020
Right ventricular (RV) pacing causes delayed activation of remote ventricular segments. We used the ultra‐high‐frequency ECG (UHF‐ECG) to describe ventricular depolarization when pacing different RV locations.

Genetic attenuation of ALDH1A1 increases metastatic potential and aggressiveness in colorectal cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Aldehyde dehydrogenase 1A1 (ALDH1A1) is a cancer stem cell marker in several malignancies. We established a novel epithelial cell line from rectal adenocarcinoma with unique overexpression of this enzyme. Genetic attenuation of ALDH1A1 led to increased invasive capacity and metastatic potential, the inhibition of proliferation activity, and ultimately ...

Upper limits on the amplitude of ultra-high-frequency gravitational waves from graviton to photon conversion [PDF]

open access: yesThe European Physical Journal C, 2019
In this work, we present the first experimental upper limits on the presence of stochastic gravitational waves in a frequency band with frequencies above 1 THz.

RIPK4 function interferes with melanoma cell adhesion and metastasis

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
RIPK4 promotes melanoma growth and spread. RIPK4 levels increase as skin lesions progress to melanoma. CRISPR/Cas9‐mediated deletion of RIPK4 causes melanoma cells to form less compact spheroids, reduces their migratory and invasive abilities and limits tumour growth and dissemination in mouse models.

On-body antenna wit parasitic elements [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
An antenna with multi-elements that act together to form an array is required to increase the gain. One example is the well-known Yagi-Uda antenna.
