Liquidity in the Foreign Exchange Market: Measurement, Commonality, and Risk Premiums [PDF]

open access: yes
This paper develops a liquidity measure tailored to the foreign exchange (FX) market, quantifies the amount of commonality in liquidity across exchange rates, and determines the extent of liquidity risk premiums embedded in FX returns.

Meningovascular Inflammation in Cerebral Amyloid Angiopathy‐Related Cortical Superficial Siderosis

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT The role of inflammation in cortical superficial siderosis (cSS), a marker of cerebral amyloid angiopathy (CAA) linked to high hemorrhage risk, is unclear. We examined 15 patients with cSS using 3 T post‐contrast vessel wall MRI (VWI) and CSF analysis.

Ultra high risk of psychosis on committal to a young offender prison: an unrecognised opportunity for early intervention

open access: yesBMC Psychiatry, 2012
Background The ultra high risk state for psychosis has not been studied in young offender populations. Prison populations have higher rates of psychiatric morbidity and substance use disorders.

New Limits on the Ultra-high Energy Cosmic Neutrino Flux from the ANITA Experiment [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
We report initial results of the first flight of the Antarctic Impulsive Transient Antenna (ANITA-1) 2006-2007 Long Duration Balloon flight, which searched for evidence of a diffuse flux of cosmic neutrinos above energies of 3 EeV.

Complementarity of Long‐Reads and Optical Mapping in Parkinson's Disease for Structural Variants

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective Long‐read sequencing and optical genome mapping technologies have the ability to detect large and complex structural variants. This has led to the discovery of novel pathogenic variants in neurodegenerative movement disorders. Thus, we aimed to systematically compare the SV detection capabilities of OGM and ONT in Parkinson's disease.

The significance of deepwater oil drilling for the US energy security: the case of the Gulf of Mexico [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
This study seeks to quantify and model the significance of the deepwater oil development for domestic US energy supplies in the short-term. It explores the significance and potential contribution deepwater oil supply from the Gulf of Mexico (GoM) can ...

Adjustment of Coatings Morphology and Particle Distribution of Layered Silicates by Freeze‐Drying for Improved Gas Barriers

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Freeze‐drying of layered silicate is the key to get coatings with superior gas barrier. Freeze‐drying of layered silicates modified with dodecylamine (DDA) is a highly effective technique for the preparation of barrier pigments that significantly mitigate the permeation of oxygen, water vapor, and hydrogen through polymer films containing these ...

Bimetallic (NiFe) and Trimetallic (NiFeCr) Nanoalloys from Metal Oxides Using a Microwave Hydrogen Plasma

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Bimetallic (NiFe) and trimetallic (NiFeCr) nanoalloys (NAs) are synthesized using corresponding oxide mixtures using microwave hydrogen plasma within a few milliseconds. The process simultaneously 1) reduces metal oxides to metals; 2) downsizes the particles from micrometers to nanometers; and 3) blends the metals to form NAs.
