Stable Protein‐Based G‐Quadruplex‐Derived Supramolecular Bioinks as Tunable ECM‐Mimetic Constructs Assembled by Combining Non‐Covalent and Covalent Strategies

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Harnessing the synergistic interplay of supramolecular self‐assembly, under macromolecular crowding conditions, and enzymatic‐mediated covalent crosslinking toward a stable protein‐based G‐quadruplex‐derived supramolecular bioink. This bioinspired strategy enables the biofabrication of complex and tunable ECM‐mimetic constructs, providing a platform ...

Selective tuning of optical modes in a silicon comb-like photonic crystal cavity

open access: yesNanophotonics, 2019
Realizing multiply resonant photonic crystal cavities with large free spectral range is key to achieve integrated devices with highly efficient nonlinear response, such as frequency conversion, four-wave mixing, and parametric oscillation.

Sensor and Embedded Control System for Liquid Crystal Implantable Eye Lens

open access: yesProceedings, 2018
A miniature sensor and control system is developed to facilitate human eye ciliary muscle movement detection and to drive the corresponding liquid crystal based lens to create an autofocusing lens for cataract patients. The movement of the ciliary muscle

Dexime: A Selectively Enzyme‐Degradable Hydrogel for Protein Therapeutic Release

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
A dextrin‐oxime hydrogel (dexime) is produced using ketone or aldehyde modified dextrin and tetra‐oxyamine modified poly(ethylene glycol). The rheological and mechanical properties of dexime are tunable. Dexime is injectable, cytocompatible, hydrolytically stable, and selectively degradable by α‐amylase.

Neuromorphic Electronics for Intelligence Everywhere: Emerging Devices, Flexible Platforms, and Scalable System Architectures

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
The perspective presents an integrated view of neuromorphic technologies, from device physics to real‐time applicability, while highlighting the necessity of full‐stack co‐optimization. By outlining practical hardware‐level strategies to exploit device behavior and mitigate non‐idealities, it shows pathways for building efficient, scalable, and ...

Phase Engineering of Atomically Precise Nanoclusters (APNCs) of Gold and Beyond

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Engineering the structural phase of materials is of paramount importance for both fundamental research and practical applications. In this Review, we summarize the recent progress in controlling the phases of atomically precise nanoclusters (APNCs) of gold, silver and copper, as well as bimetallic systems. The phase‐enabled material properties of APNCs

Ultra-low frequency energy harvesting using bi-stability and rotary-translational motion in a magnet-tethered oscillator

open access: yes, 2020
Harvesting ultra-low frequency random vibration, such as human motion or turbine tower oscillations, has always been a challenge, but could enable many potential self-powered sensing applications.

Resonant Domain Wall Dynamics in a Three‐Dimensional Magnetic Nano Double Helix

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
3D magnetic nanostructures promise exciting possibilities for magnetization dynamics. However, experimental realizations remain scarce. In nanoprinted cobalt double helices, time‐resolved X‐ray microscopy reveals harmonic domain wall dynamics. Simulations identify the mode and additional higher‐frequency resonances, revealing a rich dynamic landscape ...

An Asymptotic Expansion for the Recharge–Discharge Model of ENSO [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
The dynamics of El Niño–Southern Oscillation (ENSO) in the equatorial Pacific Ocean are largely associated with the slow thermocline adjustment at interannual and basin scales.
