Thioketal (TK) polymers are promising biomaterials due to their selective biodegradation by reactive oxygen species (ROS), but they respond slowly to physiologic doses of ROS. Here, the TK bond's pendant groups are modified to enhance the degradation of TK‐based implants both in vitro and in vivo.

Toward Fast Proton Shuttling in Acidic Oxygen Evolution Reaction
This review establishes proton transfer dynamics as a descriptor governing acidic OER activity, moving beyond the kinetic constraints derived from the proton coupled electron transfer. We discuss how deprotonation governs classical mechanisms, including adsorbate evolution mechanism (AEM), lattice oxygen mechanism (LOM) and oxide path mechanism (OPM ...

Ultra-low noise microwave generation with a free-running optical frequency comb transfer oscillator [PDF]
We present ultra-low noise microwave synthesis by optical to radio-frequency (RF) division realized with a free-running or RF-locked optical frequency comb (OFC) acting as a transfer oscillator. The method does not require any optical lock of the OFC and circumvents the need for a high-bandwidth actuator.

Flow over a cylinder subjected to combined translational and rotational oscillations [PDF]
The experimental research reported here employs particle image velocimetry to extend the study of Nazarinia et al. (2009a), recording detailed vorticity fields in the near-wake of a circular cylinder undergoing combined translational and rotational ...

Ultrahigh–Q Microtoroid On-Chip Resonators for Low Threshold Microlasers [PDF]
Recently demonstrated silica toroidal microcavities, as on-chip resonant cavities, become one of the most promising laser resonators due to their exceptional ability to confine optical energy temporarily and spatially (high Q-factor and small mode volume)

Coagulative granular hydrogels are composed of packed thrombin‐functionalized microgels that catalyze the conversion of fibrinogen into a secondary fibrin network, filling the interstitial voids. This bio‐inspired approach stabilizes the biomaterial to match the robustness of bulk hydrogels without compromising injectability, mimicking the initial ...

North-south asymmetry of ultra-low-frequency oscillations of Earth’s electromagnetic field
In the paper, we present the result of an experimental study of north-south asymmetry of ultralow-frequency electromagnetic oscillations IPCL. This study is based on observations made at Mirny Observatory (Antarctica). IPCLs are excited in the dayside sector of the auroral oval in the range 3–10 min periods and represent one of the most powerful types ...
