Energy-Efficient Technologies for Ultra-Low Temperature Refrigeration

2022
Sustainable transition is ongoing in many refrigeration and heat pump applications following what is established in national and international regulations. However, many of them have not controlled ultra-low temperature refrigeration (at –80 °C) because of the challenges associated with these systems’ operation.

An Ultra-low Power Relaxation Oscillator with Novel Ultra-low Leakage Switch and Temperature-compensated Resistor

2020 IEEE International Conference on Integrated Circuits, Technologies and Applications (ICTA), 2020
This paper proposes an ultra-low power relaxation oscillator with novel Ultra-Low Leakage Switch (ULLS) and temperature-compensated resistor (TCR). The ULLS decreases the leakage current over 90 dB, and the leakage variation against temperature can be also reduced about $\times 67$.

Ultra Low Temperature Ultra Low Power Instrument Packages for Planetary Surfaces

AIP Conference Proceedings, 2010
Achievement of solar system exploration roadmap goals will involve robotic or human deployment and longterm operation of surface science packages remote from human presence, thus requiring autonomous, self-powered operation. The major challenge such packages face will be operating during long periods of darkness in extreme cold potentially without the ...

Ultra-low-power temperature compensated voltage reference generator

Microelectronics Journal, 2006
Abstract A CMOS voltage reference generator, based on the difference between the gate–source voltages of two NMOS transistors, has been implemented with AMS 0.35 μm CMOS technology ( V thn = 0.45 and V thp = 0.75 V at 0 °C).

Ultra low temperature batteries for Martian applications

IECEC-97 Proceedings of the Thirty-Second Intersociety Energy Conversion Engineering Conference (Cat. No.97CH6203), 2002
The Mars Microprobes are a secondary payload on the 1998 Mars Surveyor Lander Mission. The power source for the Microprobes will be two lithium primary batteries. The batteries will provide power for all the Microprobe instruments and data relays during all phases of the mission. The batteries will be designed to survive the peak landing shock that may

Autocompensating device for ultra-low temperature measurements

Cryogenics, 1989
Abstract A noise-protected meter for ultra-low temperatures with a thermoresistor symmetrically connected to a low noise preamplifier at the input and with a driftless digital lock-in detector at the output is described. The negative feedback circuit includes a multiplier of the analog signal and the digital code.

Condensed matter physics at ultra-low temperatures

AIP Conference Proceedings, 2012
Studying materials at micro-Kelvin (μK) temperatures helps us discover their true ground states and this has great implications in understanding their properties at higher temperatures. The thermal fluctuations would die down at these temperatures and are not present at absolute zero.

Atomic and molecular clusters at ultra-low temperature

2012
This Dissertation is focused on the study of atomic and molecular clusters in ultra-cold helium nanodroplets. A novel technique for the determination of helium droplet sizes will be discussed, which is based on the attenuation of a beam of helium droplets via collisions with argon and helium scattering gas at room temperature.
