Monitoring for Ultra-Precision Grinding using Induced Current

open access: yesJournal of the Japan Society for Precision Engineering, Contributed Papers, 2004
This paper proposes a newly developed monitoring system for grinding ultra-precision small size casting die having asphericl surface. Small size aspheric glass lenses are widely used for IT industry. The lenses are cast in cemented carbide die because of its high melting temperature and the die is usually ground by small size diamond grinding wheels ...

3D‐Printed Corneal Substitutes: Materials, Fabrication, and Preclinical Progress

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Technologies, EarlyView.
Successful clinical translation of 3D‐printed corneal substitutes relies on the interplay between the bioink properties, cellular component, and the fabrication process. These factors influence the critical properties of the construct, including optical transparency, mechanical stability, suture retention, that ultimately govern long‐term stromal ...

Wood‐Derived Nanocellulose‐Biocarbon Fresnel‐Zone Plate Lenses for Sub‐THz Frequency Applications

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Technologies, EarlyView.
Wood‐derived nanocellulose and lignin‐based biocarbon were combined to fabricate fully bio‐based Fresnel zone plate (FZP) lenses for sub‐terahertz frequencies. These sustainable FZP lenses exhibit low dielectric loss and high directivity, achieving performance comparable to that of metallic references, and remain functional under environmental stress ...

The ultra-precision Ud-lap grinding of flat advanced ceramics [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Materials Processing Technology, 2016
Abstract The present study focuses on the U d -lap grinding process and its machine-tool design aiming at ultra-precision (UP) manufacturing of advanced ceramics. Impacts of three different overlapping factors on a dressing (U d ) and three abrasive grit sizes of conventional SiC grinding wheels were analyzed on flat nanometric surface finishing of ...

Nanomaterials for Allergy Diagnosis and Treatment: Advances, Opportunities and Translational Challenges

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Nanomaterials offer dual applications in allergy management. For diagnosis, nanomaterials enhance analytical sensitivity and improve detection in specific IgE and functional assays such as the basophil activation test (BAT). For allergen‐specific immunotherapy, nanomaterials enable allergen masking and controlled release, and effectively modulate the ...

Harmonizing Rigidity and Flexibility: Embedding COF Quantum Dots Into Extracellular Matrix Gel as Carbon Monoxide Depot for Acoustically Triggered Time‐Programmable Anti‐Infective Therapy

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A rigid‑flexible integrated CO depot is engineered by embedding rigid COFQDs into a flexible ECM gel network. The rigid framework enables high‑capacity CO storage and sonodynamic bacterial killing, while the flexible ECM gel controls sustained CO release, collectively eradicating multidrug‑resistant infection and promoting scarless healing.

Transposable Element–Driven PIEZO Mutation Enhances Locust Flight in Plateau Hypoxia

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Why transposable elements (TEs) persisted or expanded in genomes remains a mystery. Using integrated analysis of TE macro‐ and microevolution in locusts, our results showed that thousands of TE insertions promoted widespread adaptive variation. Subfamilies of candidate adaptive TEs amplified and reshaped species‐level genomic architecture.
