ULTRA: Wideband Ground Penetrating Radar
2006 European Radar Conference, 2006The frequency range employed in ground penetrating radar (GPR) systems is generally limited to 2 GHz because media loss increases dramatically at higher frequencies. Nevertheless, a series of applications exists in the Cultural Heritage field where the development of high frequency systems would significantly benefit, in terms of resolution, from an ...

Proceedings of ISSSTA'95 International Symposium on Spread Spectrum Techniques and Applications, 2002
The requirement for improved performance, in terms of range resolution and target identification, for a range of radar applications, has led to a special category of radar system design. Ultra-wideband radar use a variety of modulation methods such as impulse, FMCW, step frequency, phase coded, etc., but all share the common feature of operation at ...

Short-distance ultra wideband radars
IEEE Aerospace and Electronic Systems Magazine, 2005The possibility of ultrawideband (UWB) radar usage in various fields for remote measuring the object's motion at short distance is considered. Application of UWB radar in medicine for remote measuring of patient's heart activity and respiration is shown. The measuring method is described and practical results of tests are cited.

Ultra wideband radar assembly kit
Proceedings. 2005 IEEE International Geoscience and Remote Sensing Symposium, 2005. IGARSS '05., 2005Ultra wideband sounding has been found to be suitable for a large number of applications in various areas. This results in a variety of different requirements concerning the measurement electronics. The article describes a conception of a measurement system, which provides for high flexibility in adapting performance to the actual need.

Ultra-Wideband Polarimetric Borehole Radar
2005Stepped-frequency ultra-wide-band polarimetric borehole radar system was developed and tested for subsurface fracture characterization. The radar was tested for subsurface fracture characterization. Scattering matrix of subsurface fractures can be estimated by using the radar system and examples of polarimetric signature were shown.

Survey of Ultra-wideband Radar
2007The development of UWB radar over the last four decades is very briefly summarized. A discussion of the meaning of UWB is followed by a short history of UWB radar developments and discussions of key supporting technologies and current UWB radars. Selected UWB radars and the associated applications are highlighted.
