(3+1) Massive Dirac Fermions with Ultracold Atoms in Optical Lattices
We propose the experimental realization of (3+1) relativistic Dirac fermions using ultracold atoms in a rotating optical lattice or, alternatively, in a synthetic magnetic field.

Application of lasers to ultracold atoms and molecules [PDF]
In this review, we discuss the impact of the development of lasers on ultracold atoms and molecules and their applications. After a brief historical review of laser cooling and Bose-Einstein condensation, we present important applications of ultra cold ...

Skyrmionic Polarization Textures in Structured Dielectric Planar Media
Topological skyrmionic textures are typically associated with the structure of optical fields. This work demonstrates that they can also emerge from the optical response of structured metasurfaces. Through engineered light–matter interaction, polarization eigenstates acquire nontrivial topology, which can be mapped into the Chern‐insulator physics ...

Fault-tolerant connection of error-corrected qubits with noisy links
One of the most promising routes toward scalable quantum computing is a modular approach. We show that distinct surface code patches can be connected in a fault-tolerant manner even in the presence of substantial noise along their connecting interface ...

Topologically Protected Negative Entanglement
It is revealed that topological flat‐band edge states can lead to robust unconventional negative entanglement entropy scaling. This arises from a new mechanism of non‐Hermitian critical skin compression (nHCSC), which strongly “compresses” quantum information beyond flat‐band degeneracy.

Bright solitons in ultracold atoms
We review old and recent experimental and theoretical results on bright solitons in Bose-Einstein condensates made of alkali-metal atoms and under external optical confinement. First we deduce the three-dimensional Gross-Pitaevskii equation (3D GPE) from

Conveyor-belt magneto-optical trapping of molecules
Laser cooling is used to produce ultracold atoms and molecules for quantum science and precision measurement applications. Molecules are more challenging to cool than atoms due to their vibrational and rotational internal degrees of freedom.

Hydrodynamic Attractor in Ultracold Atoms
The hydrodynamic attractor is a concept that describes universal equilibration behavior in which systems lose microscopic details before hydrodynamics becomes applicable. We propose a setup to observe hydrodynamic attractors in ultracold atomic gases, taking advantage of the fact that driving the two-body $s$-wave scattering length causes phenomena ...
