Ultrafast Isomerization Dynamics of Biomimetic Photoswitches
Femtosecond UV-VIS and mid-IR experiments show that a new class of biomimetic photoswitches photo-isomerizes in less than 300 fs. In close analogy to rhodopsin, the isomerization is driven by ultrafast motion along the stretch and the torsional ...

Microfabrication using nano‐ to micron‐sized blocks has transformative potential for next‐gen electronics, optoelectronics, and materials. Traditional methods are limited by scalability and precision. STIC, a single‐laser system for precise colloid manipulation and immobilization using femtosecond lasers, is introduced that enables efficient 3D ...

Waveguide Photoactuators: Materials, Fabrication, and Applications
Waveguide photoactuators convert guided light into mechanical motion. Their tethered‐flexible design enables minimally invasive surgery and confined‐space robotics. This review aims to guide materials selection, device design, and system integration, accelerating the transition of waveguide photoactuators from laboratory prototypes to versatile ...

Nanoscale Confinement Enhances Ultrafast Demagnetization. [PDF]
Next generation spintronics may depend on successfully combining femtosecond spin dynamics with nanoscale device miniaturization. We address this by systematically studying the effect of nanoscale confinement on the femtosecond demagnetization of Iron. By combining ultrafast experiments sensitive to spins, charge carriers, and phonons, we uncover a nm ...

Ultrafast Magnetization Dynamics
This thesis addresses ultrafast magnetzation dynamics from a theoretical perspective. The manipulation of magnetization using the inverse Faraday effect has been studied, as well as magnetic relaxation processes in quantum dots. The inverse Faraday effect - the generation of a magnetic field by nonresonant, circularly polarized light - offers the ...

In this work, ultrafast laser‐induced spin transfer and spin relaxation dynamics in 2D van der Waals antiferromagnetic CrI3/CrGeTe3 heterostructures are investigated. Laser excitation is demonstrated to induce pronounced interlayer nonequilibrium spin dynamics and ultrafast magnetic moment reconstruction, driving a transition from an antiferromagnetic (

Photonic time crystals (PTCs) are systems in which electromagnetic parameters are modulated periodically in time, producing momentum bandgaps via temporal scattering rather than spatial Bragg processes. This review examines the theoretical frameworks, modeling, and computational tools for time‐varying media, and summarizes experimental demonstrations ...

Polymorphic Superparaelectric Engineering Boosting Energy Storage Capacity in BaTiO3‐Based Ceramics
Herein, Ca2+ incorporation promotes the coexistence of CaTiO3‐/BaTiO3‐derived paraferroelectric states, stabilizing cubic‐orthorhombic‐tetragonal polymorphic superparaelectric phases. This minimizes polarization energy barriers, facilitating full polarization saturation without compromising efficiency.
