Effects of swirling flow on ultralight particle dispersion characteristics in coaxial jet combustor

open access: yesEnergy Science & Engineering, 2019
The dispersion characteristics of ultralight particle (expanded graphite) in swirling mixture particle‐laden coaxial jet combustor was modeled and numerically predicted using developed second‐order moment gas‐particle multifluid turbulent model.

Design and Reliability Analysis of a Series/Parallel Hybrid System with a Rotary Engine for Safer Ultralight Aviation

open access: yesApplied Sciences, 2023
The conventional powertrain for ultralight aviation consists of a fixed pitch propeller connected to an internal combustion engine (ICE). Since ICEs have a limited thermal efficiency (

Vacuum–Laser Fabrication of Programmable Soft Actuators

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A rapid and accessible fabrication strategy for inflatable soft actuators is presented, combining vacuum sealing with laser cutting of low‐cost thermoplastic pouches. The method enables precise sealing, fast fabrication, and programmable multi‐cell geometries.

Probing ultralight scalar, vector and tensor dark matter with pulsar timing arrays

open access: yesPhysics Letters B
Pulsar timing arrays (PTAs) are sensitive to oscillations in the gravitational potential along the line-of-sight due to ultralight particle pressure. We calculate the probing power of PTAs for ultralight bosons across all frequencies, from those larger ...

Neutrino masses in quartification schemes

open access: yes, 2006
The idea of quark-lepton universality at high energies has recently been explored in unified theories based upon the quartification gauge group SU(3)^4.

Tunable Negative Thermal Expansion in Fe/Cr‐Substituted Nd2Co17 Compounds via Magnetoelastic Coupling

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study achieves anisotropic thermal expansion tuning in Nd2(Co1‐xFex)17‐yCry compounds via a magnetoelastic strategy. Variable‐temperature synchrotron X‐ray diffraction reveals that increased Fe content induces switchable lattice responses. Compositional control reduces the volume expansion coefficient αV by 20% (x═0.7) and modulates TC (442–625 K),

Fuzzy Dark Matter candidates from string theory

open access: yesJournal of High Energy Physics, 2022
String theory has been claimed to give rise to natural fuzzy dark matter candidates in the form of ultralight axions. In this paper we revisit this claim by a detailed study of how moduli stabilisation affects the masses and decay constants of different ...

I’m so Self-Conscious: Kanye West’s Rhetorical Wrestling with Theodicy and Nihilism [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
Whether Kanye’s plea to God is to intervene because “the devil’s trying to break [him] down,” or that he (Kanye) is “tryna keep [his] faith,” Kanye West’s lamentations communicate his wrestling of succumbing to sufferings within the world.
