Three-Dimensional Ultrasonic Scanning
Acta Radiologica. Diagnosis, 1984Simple experiments which form the basis for a true 3-D demonstration of sectional images are presented and a method for genuine 3-D display of dynamic ultrasound images is described. Eight ultrasound images are recorded with a slightly different angulation of the transducer.

Ultrasonic B-Scanning of the Brain
Journal of Neurosurgery, 1965U LTRASOUND restricted to one-dimensional echo-ranging can provide little information other than the location of a plane reflecting surface. I ts value in neurological diagnosis, therefore, is limited virtually to detect ion of a shift of midline structures of the brain.

Ultrasonic diffraction scanning of the thyroid
Ultrasound in Medicine & Biology, 1982Abstract This paper reports the results of a preliminary clinical assessment of the value of ultrasonic diffraction analysis in identifying thyroid pathology. The trial involved 52 patients and nine normal volunteers and showed that, when used as a supplement to grey-scale B-scanning, diffraction analysis is capable of useful separation among several

Ultrasonic liver scanning: automated A-scan analysis
Physics in Medicine & Biology, 1973The method used to investigate the effect of phase of respiration on the two derived parameters, mean log echo amplitude and slope. The increased mean log echo amplitude in cirrhosis is confirmed. Maximal inspiration is found to be associated with a reduction in mean log echo amplitude when compared with interrupted quiet respiration in a group of ...

Ultrasonic scanning and fetography at polyhydramnios
Acta Obstetricia et Gynecologica Scandinavica, 1981The usefulness of ultrasonic examination in the diagnosis of fetal abnormalitites is shown in three cases of fetal abnormalitites recognized by ultrasonic scanning (USS). Scanning was supplemented with hormone analysis, chromosome studies and alfafetoprotein tests (AFP) carried out on the amniotic fluid, as well as fetography. The first case was of ...

Ultrasonic array scanning of the kidney
Ultrasound in Medicine & Biology, 1974Abstract An ultrasonic scanning system has been devised, utilizing an array of six plane transducers, each used as a separate transmitter-receiver. The transducers were arranged in a concave assembly so that their beams intersected at a point equidistant from each face.

Ultrasonic liver scanning: the A-scan in the normal and cirrhosis
Physics in Medicine & Biology, 1972Techniques for the analysis of ultrasonic A-scans of the liver were used to compare the scans of 30 normal livers with those of 13 with cirrhosis. The ultrasonic frequency was approximately 1.5 MHz. Thirty scans of each liver were analysed using a computer.

Ultrasonic scanning of the pancreas
Journal of Clinical Ultrasound, 1976AbstractThe use of ultrasonic scanning in diagnosis of pancreatic disease is reviewed. A procedure for the examination of the pancreas with a compound scanning technique and the ultrasonic appearance of the normal and diseased pancreas is described. Diffuse or localized enlargement can be demonstrated and the latter be differentiated as to whether it ...

Ultrasonic pancreatic scanning
The British Journal of Radiology, 1980I am afraid I do not agree with the technique of ultrasonic pancreatic scanning presented by Dr. Meire (Meire and Farrant, 1979). 1. Now that high-resolution, real-time scanners are available, it is so much easier to examine the pancreas in the standing position.

History of Ultrasonic Duplex Scanning
Cardiovascular Surgery, 1996Ultrasonic duplex scanning was developed and introduced into clinical practice by the combined efforts of engineers and physicians. The instrumentation represents a marriage of B-mode imaging and Doppler technology. Since its introduction in 1974, numerous modifications and upgrading of the technology have taken place. The modern duplex scanner can be
