Ultrasonic Fatigue Strength in Inconel 718

open access: yesSuperalloys 718, 625, 706 and Various Derivatives (2001), 2001
The fatigue strength of a nickel-base superalloy, Inconel 718, was investigated at room temperature under an ultrasonic frequency (1 9.5 kHz) loading in ambient air environment. The endurance (S-N) data show that fatigue strength was enhanced at ultrasonic frequency as compared to those at conventional frequencies.

Damage evolution in the AlMg6 alloy during high and very high cycle fatigue

open access: yesFracture and Structural Integrity, 2019
Paper presents the “in situ” method for determining of irreversible fatigue damage accumulation, based on the analysis of nonlinear manifestations of the feedback signal in a closed system of an ultrasonic fatigue system.

The detection of hydrogen induced cracking in welded and seamless steel pipes using acoustic emission and ultrasonic techniques [PDF]

open access: yes, 1986
The detection and location of hydrogen induced cracks In steel pipes is unreliable and time consuming because of the unpredictable nature of the defect and the lack of sensitivity of conventional non destructive testing techniques.

Study on fracture behaviors of nanocomposite ceramics under a high cycle stress

open access: yesAdvances in Mechanical Engineering, 2016
In order to clarify the fracture behaviors of nanocomposite ceramics under ultrasonic vibration–aided grinding, the stress under ultrasonic was analyzed by non-local elastic theory.

Mechanistic Model of Fatigue in Ultrasonic Assisted Machining

open access: yesMaterials
Anti-fatigue design in the machining process of aviation material requires advanced processes to enhance the surface integrity and a holistic model which can optimize the process aiming at maximum fatigue life. In the present study, the axial ultrasonic assisted milling process was utilized to machine the Inconel 718 while the process executes the ...

Fatigue Tests of Metals at Ultrasonic Frequency

open access: yesBulletin of JSME, 1958
A testing equipment and measurements are reported of the fatigue of metals under supersonic frequency. This equipment has an advantage over conventional fatigue machines that stress alternations up to 108 reversals can be made within an hour or so. At the resonant condition, metal samples are subjected to alternating stresses above the fatigue limit by
