Thermographic analysis in ultrasonic fatigue tests [PDF]

open access: yesFatigue & Fracture of Engineering Materials & Structures, 2006
ABSTRACTThree kinds of alloys used in the automotive industry for structures and engine components are subjected to very high cycle fatigue damage during working service. In the study, fatigue damage progression of the three kinds of alloys was investigated in the very high cycles fatigue regime by means of thermographic analysis.

Cruciform specimens' experimental analysis in ultrasonic fatigue testing [PDF]

open access: yesFatigue & Fracture of Engineering Materials & Structures, 2019
AbstractIn this paper, two special aluminium cruciform specimens are designed and tested in an ultrasonic fatigue machine. They were designed based on Single‐Input‐Multiple‐Output (SIMO) modal analysis to induce in‐plane biaxial stress combinations (in‐phase tension‐tension [T‐T] and out‐of‐phase compression‐tension [C‐T]) when at resonance at 20 kHz ...

Fretting Fatigue Behaviour of Alloy Steel in the Very High Cycle Region [PDF]

open access: yesMATEC Web of Conferences, 2019
It is well known that fretting fatigue strength is much lower than the fatigue strength of smooth specimens and the fatigue limit disappears. Many studies on fretting fatigue have been reported but most of the studies have not cover fatigue properties in

Experiment-Based Fatigue Behaviors and Damage Detection Study of Headed Shear Studs in Steel–Concrete Composite Beams

open access: yesApplied Sciences, 2021
Many in-service bridges with steel–concrete composite beams are currently aging and experiencing performance deterioration. Under long-term cyclic loads from traffic on bridges, headed shear studs in steel–concrete composite beams are vulnerable to ...

Fatigue deformation of 1050 aluminum in ultrasonic fatigue testing.

open access: yesJournal of Japan Institute of Light Metals, 1995
Ultrasonic fatigue tests have been performed on commercial 1050 aluminum. Internal friction (Q-1) has been measured during fatigue tests and as a function of strain amplitude (e). It is shown that more than 109 cycles test is necessary in order to determine the fatigue limit. Q-1 versus e curves have the inflection points at particular strain amplitude
