Ultrasonic Guided Wave Method For Crack Detection In Buried Plastic Pipe

open access: yesMATEC Web of Conferences, 2016
Plastic pipe are widely used in many fields for the fluid or gaseous product conveyance but basic components of a plastic material made it very sensitive to damage, which requires techniques for detecting damage reliable and efficient.

Optimization of ultrasonic guided wave inspection in structural health monitoring based on thermal sensitivity evaluation

open access: yesJournal of Low Frequency Noise, Vibration and Active Control, 2021
Damage detection in a mechanical structure using ultrasonic guided waves becomes even more problematic when the effect of variation in environmental and operating conditions, such as mechanical noise, temperature, flow rate, inner pressure, etc. is taken

From Clinic to Computation: Multiscale Bioengineering Strategies for Durable Biological Aortic Valve Replacements

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Bioprosthetic aortic valves have revolutionized the treatment of aortic stenosis, but their durability is limited by structural valve deterioration (SVD). This review focuses on the pericardial tissue at the heart of these valves, examining how its mechanical properties and calcification drive fatigue and failure.

Research on Pipeline Damage Imaging Technology Based on Ultrasonic Guided Waves

open access: yesShock and Vibration, 2019
Pipeline structures are important structural components that cannot be replaced in actual engineering applications. Damage to a pipeline structure will create substantial safety hazards and economic losses in a project.

The application of ultrasonic NDT techniques in tribology [PDF]

open access: yes, 2005
The use of ultrasonic reflection is emerging as a technique for studying tribological contacts. Ultrasonic waves can be transmitted non-destructively through machine components and their behaviour at an interface describes the characteristics of that ...

Color Routing and Beam Steering of Single‐Molecule Emission with a Spherical Silicon Nanoantenna

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
We experimentally demonstrate broadband directional emission from single molecules using a single spherical silicon nanoparticle assembled via DNA origami. By varying nanoparticle (NP) size and emitter position, we achieve unidirectional emission, beam steering, and color routing at the nanoscale, revealing modal interference as the underlying ...

Shear Horizontal Guided Wave Sensors Based on CTGS Piezoelectric Crystal for High‐Temperature Structural Health Monitoring

open access: yesAdvanced Electronic Materials
The development of ultrasonic‐guided wave sensors is of great significance for structural health monitoring (SHM). In this work, a shear horizontal (SH) ultrasonic guided wave sensor based on the Ca3TaGa3Si2O14 (CTGS) piezoelectric single crystal is ...

Understanding the Role of Superhydrophobicity and Superhydrophilicity in Salt‐Spray Corrosion of Nanosecond Pulsed Laser‐Textured AA2024 Alloy

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Nanosecond pulse laser texturing yields superhydrophobic and superhydrophilic AA2024 surfaces. Salt‐spray tests show that periodic superhydrophobic patterns suppress pitting, whereas superhydrophilic textures enhance it, linking laser‐induced morphology, wettability, and oxide chemistry to corrosion resistance.

Proposal of Laser-Induced Ultrasonic Guided Wave for Corrosion Detection of Reinforced Concrete Structures in Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Plant Decommissioning Site

open access: yesApplied Sciences, 2019
Remote-controlled, non-destructive testing is necessary to detect corrosion of the reinforced concrete structures at the Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Plant (NPP) de-commissioning site. This work aims to demonstrate that laser-induced ultrasonic guided
