ULTRASONIC NONLINEARITY MEASUREMENTS ON ROLLED POLYCRYSTALLINE COPPER

AIP Conference Proceedings, 2010
Changes in the ultrasonic nonlinearity parameter, β, have been attributed to changes in dislocation density. This sensitivity suggests future applications in nondestructive testing. In this work, the change in β in rolled polycrystalline copper is examined.

Investigation on Dynamics of Ultrasonic Surface Rolling Process

Advanced Materials Research, 2013
Ultrasonic surface rolling processing (USRP) is a surface nanocrystallization method developed recently, which can bring metal surface with superior properties. In order to obtain the motion state of the processing tip during USRP, a 3D dynamic finite element model was adopted to simulate the response of processing tip.

Design and Simulation Analysis of Ultrasonic Rolling Horn

Applied Mechanics and Materials, 2015
Considering its important influence on ultrasonic burnishing, ultrasonic horn is the research object in this paper. Take theoretical design of it firstly, then build 3d model by ANSYS11.0 and carry out modal analysis and harmonic response analysis of it.

Optimized Design of the Horn of Ultrasonic Roll Welding

Advanced Materials Research, 2012
Previous studies on the amplitude horn only calculated sizes in consistent with the axial resonant mode frequency and disc bending resonant mode frequency without considering the overall stress and the amplitude of the disc’s outer ring. The resonant frequency of the amplitude horn cannot occur around 35 kHz.

Characterization of Rolling Texture by Ultrasonic Dispersion Measurement

1989
Ultrasonic scattering at grain boundaries in polycrystals causes attenuation of sound waves and dispersive sound velocities. Texture, that is a weighted orientation distribution of the grains, alters the ultrasonic propagation behavior directional dependent.

Attenuation and Dispersion of Ultrasonic Waves in Rolled Aluminum

1998
Measurements of ultrasonic velocity and attenuation can provide important tools in characterizing the microstructure of materials [1]. For example, velocity measurements can provide information on crystallographic texture while attenuation measurements provide information of grain size.

Ultrasonics in the determination of susceptibility of rolled products to lamellar tearing

Non-Destructive Testing, 1975
Abstract When lamellar tearing increasingly appeared in certain welded constructions the French Welding Institute investigated the effect of rolling on materials. The institute sought a non-destructive method of assessing the susceptibility of plate to lamellar tears and investigated non-destructive tests of the properties of materials across their ...

The Design and Analysis of Ultrasonic Roll Welding Head and Tool

Advanced Materials Research, 2012
Solar panels conduct electricity through aluminum strips on substrate surfaces. Ultrasonic roll welding can weld the conductive aluminum strips onto the glass substrates. This paper illustrates vibration characteristics and optimal design of amplitude horns used in the ultrasonic welding roll.
