Direct Metal Deposition of Graphene–Ti28Nb35.4Zr Matrix Composites With Enhanced Mechanical, Corrosion, and Biocompatibility Properties for Bone Implants

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Graphene nanoplatelet (0.1 wt.%) reinforcement significantly enhances the performance of β Ti‐28Nb‐35.4Zr alloy. Grain refinement, reduced water contact angle, and improved surface characteristics promote osteoblast adhesion and complete surface coverage after 7 days.

Comparison between dog-bone and Gaussian specimens for size effect evaluation in gigacycle fatigue

open access: yesFracture and Structural Integrity, 2013
Gigacycle fatigue properties of materials are strongly affected by the specimen risk volume (volume of material subjected to a stress amplitude larger than the 90% of the maximum stress). Gigacycle fatigue tests, performed with ultrasonic fatigue testing

On the Specimen Design, Physical Properties and Geometry Effect on Heat Generation and Thermal Gradient in Ultrasonic Fatigue

open access: yesMachines
Performing fatigue characterisation is often an expensive task, being both time consuming and expensive. Taking that into account, ultrasonic fatigue testing is an interesting solution, since it can be thousands of times faster than traditional ...

Inverse Kinematic Analysis and Evaluation of a Robot for Nondestructive Testing Application

open access: yesJournal of Robotics, 2015
The robot system has been utilized in the nondestructive testing field in recent years. However, only a few studies have focused on the application of ultrasonic testing for complex work pieces with the robot system. The inverse kinematics problem of the

An approach for relating the results of quantitative nondestructive evaluation to intrinsic properties of high-performance materials [PDF]

open access: yes
One of the most difficult problems the manufacturing community has faced during recent years has been to accurately assess the physical state of anisotropic high-performance materials by nondestructive means.

Electrochemical Behavior of Flame‐Sprayed Sc‐Doped AlCoCrFeMo High‐Entropy Alloy Coatings in 3.5% Sodium Chloride Solution

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Scandium (Sc)‐doped AlCoCrFeMo HEA coatings are fabricated via flame spraying with 0.1, 0.3, and 0.5 wt% Sc additions. Among these, the HEA‐Sc0.3 coating exhibits the highest corrosion resistance, indicated by a more positive corrosion potential and lower current density.

Micro-geophysics to assess the integrity of some statues in the Museo Egizio of Turin, Italy [PDF]

open access: yes, 2005
On request of the Soprintendenza in charge of the Museo Egizio of Turin, a quite large number of tests have been performed on four statues of the museum to assess their integrity both for practical (moving the statue) and archaeological purposes ...

Molecular Dynamics Studies of Shape Memory Polymers: From Bead–Spring Models to Atomistic Simulations

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Coarse‐grained (left) and atomistic (right) models of the shape memory polymer ESTANE ETE 75DT3 are shown schematically. The two representations bridge molecular detail and mesoscopic description. Both models capture shape memory behavior, linking segmental mobility and conformational relaxation of anisotropic chains to macroscopic recovery, and ...
