Fluid modelling of microfluidic separator channels [PDF]

open access: yes, 2005
In a microfluidic ultrasonic separator device, the microchannel geometry is inherently angular due to the anisotropic etch processes used. A CFD model is used to investigate eddy formation induced by this angular geometry.

Powder Optimization Strategies for Binder Jetting Printing of BaTiO3 and Ba0,6Sr0,4TiO3 Ceramics

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Powder optimization is investigated to enable binder jetting of BaTiO3 and Ba0.6Sr0.4TiO3 ferroelectric ceramics. The antagonistic relationship between flowability and binder compatibility is addressed through binder impregnation of granulated powders and fumed silica addition to fine powders.

Surface Tension Measurement of Ti‐6Al‐4V by Falling Droplet Method in Oxygen‐Free Atmosphere

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
In this article, the temperature‐dependent surface tension of free falling, oscillating Ti‐6Al‐4V droplets is investigated in both argon and monosilane doped, oxygen‐free atmosphere. Droplet temperature and oscillation are captured with one single high‐speed camera, and the surface tension is calculated with Rayleigh's formula.

Incorporation of viscoelastic loss into the plane wave expansion approach to modelling composite transducers

open access: yes, 2006
The plane wave expansion (PWE) method has been proposed as a theoretical model for periodic composite ultrasonic transducers. This paper extends previous work by importantly including viscoelastic loss in the material parameters.
