Effect of ultrasonic vibration on the mechanical properties of 3D printed acrylonitrile butadiene styrene and polylactic acid samples

open access: yesHeliyon, 2023
Fused deposition modeling (FDM) is an extrusion-based AM process that is widely used due to its cost-effectiveness and user friendly. However, FDM also has some limitations such as the appearance of seam lines between layers and the production of excess ...

Near‐Infrared Emitting Lanthanide Catecholate Giant Single Crystals – Morphology Control and Photon Down‐Conversion

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Controlled syntheses of lanthanide coordination polymers based on the dihydroxybenzoquinone (DHBQ) organic linker afforded large single crystals of Ln‐DHBQ CPs (Ln = Yb, Nd). A novel structural variant of Yb‐DHBQ is identified by means of single crystal diffraction analysis.

Dynamics characterisation of cymbal transducers for power ultrasonics applications [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
A class V cymbal flextensional transducer is composed of a piezoceramic disc sandwiched between two cymbal-shaped shell end-caps. Depending on the type of piezoceramic, there exists a maximum voltage that can be reached without depolarisation, but also ...

Notch effects under ultrasonically vibrating stress.

open access: yesTRANSACTIONS OF THE JAPAN SOCIETY OF MECHANICAL ENGINEERS Series A, 1988
In this study, stress concentration factors and fatigue strength reduction factors are obtained in the case of a round bar of mild steel with a V-groove under ultrasonically vibrating stress. The stress concentration factors are determined by analysis on eigenmodes using FEM.

A generalised approach to torsionality maximisation in longitudinal-torsional ultrasonic devices [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
A longitudinal-torsional vibration mode has many applications in ultrasonic systems. Obtaining this behaviour could be achieved either by coupling the longitudinal and torsional modes or by degenerating the longitudinal mode, but the results may be ...
