This paper will discuss the design of ultrasonic transducers necessary to produce efficient spot and seam welding. In addition, there will be a discussion of experience encountered with ultrasonic welding in the laboratory and in the field. Photographs and photomicrographs of metals welded ultrasonically will be presented. There will be a discussion of

1993
Abstract This article begins with a discussion on the advantages and limitation of ultrasonic welding (USW). It describes variations of the USW process which can produce different weld geometries. These variations are helpful in producing spot welds, line welds, continuous seam welds, ring welds, and microelectronic welds.

Ultrasonic Evaluation of Weld Strength for Aluminum Ultrasonic Spot Welds
AIP Conference Proceedings, 2005The goal of this work is to determine the feasibility of using an ultrasonic, non‐destructive technique for post‐process evaluation of aluminum ultrasonic spot welds. A focused immersion transducer was utilized to obtain a C‐scan of the weld interface, from which a weighted ultrasonic contact area was estimated.

Ultrasonic Welding of Polymers
2018Ultrasonic welding of polymers is an economically viable joining technique which eludes the addition of solvents or adhesives but causes localized heating at the interface by using relatively short cycle times [1]. Ultrasound welding is a high-frequency continuous joining technique. It is appropriate for joining small and larger regions in a sequential

Ultrasonic Welding of Refractory Metals
1961Abstract : The effect of input power, clamping force, and duration of welding interval on the tensile-shear strength of ultrasonic welds in 0.005-in. Mo-0.5% Ti alloy sheet were studied and the results are tabulated. Exploratory tensile- shear measurements were made in 0.010-in.

Laser/ultrasonic welding technique
The Journal of the Acoustical Society of America, 1982A non-contact laser/ultrasonic welding technique for strengthening the con laser weld by the addition of ultrasonic cavitation and cleaning. A high powered laser applies heat to a weld joint to produce a melt. The output of the laser, or a second laser, is amplitude modulated to generate acoustic waves in the melt.
