Picosecond ultrasonics for elasticity-based imaging and characterization of biological cells
Characterization of the elasticity of biological cells is growing as a new way to gain insight into cell biology. Cell mechanics are related to most aspects of cellular behavior, and applications in research and medicine are broad.

Characterization of GMAW (Gas Metal Arc Welding) Penetration Using Ultrasonics
Welding defects such as lack of penetration, undercutting, crater crack, burn-through and porosity can occur during manufacturing. Assessing weld quality using nondestructive evaluation methods is important for the quality assurance of welded parts.

AbstractWe report the development of an ultrasonic levitation system. Liquid drops or solid samples of diameter less than one half wavelength of the excitation frequency are levitated without contact just below the pressure nodes. The piezo transducer is excited by an ultrasonic signal of around 29kHz through a voltage amplifier.
