Superior Labial Artery Mucosal Flap (SLAM) for Reconstruction of Major Lower Lip Mucosal Defects

open access: yesHead &Neck, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background The superior labial artery mucosal (SLAM) flap is a versatile, pedicled axial flap ideally suited for mucosal lining in lower lip reconstruction. Methods This article details the surgical anatomy and technique of the SLAM flap, highlighting its role as a standalone liner or mucosal adjunct to microvascular free tissue transfer in ...

Comparison of 3‐Dimensional Ultrasound and Computed Tomography for Imaging of Abdominal Aortic Aneurysms

open access: yesJournal of Ultrasound in Medicine, EarlyView.
Objectives Three‐dimensional ultrasound (3D US) is emerging as a novel imaging method for abdominal aortic aneurysms (AAAs) as it creates a low‐cost 3D AAA overview without harmful radiation and nephrotoxic contrast agents, as opposed to conventional imaging. 3D US can be used with a non‐nephrotoxic contrast agent (3D‐CEUS) for lumen delineation.

Renal duplex doppler ultrasonography: A noninvasive predictor of kidney dysfunction and hepatorenal failure in liver disease [PDF]

open access: yes, 1994
Hepatorenal failure, a well-recognized complication of established liver disease, is characterized by early renal hemodynamic changes (vasoconstriction) before clinically recognized kidney disease.

Diagnostic Accuracy of Color Doppler in Peripheral Artery Occlusive Disease

open access: yesJournal of Marine Medical Society
Background: Doppler ultrasonography enables high resolution imaging of the peripheral arteries with precise anatomical and physiological information. It may also determine the significance of equivocal lesions of peripheral arterial occlusive disease ...

Transvaginal Strain Elastography Methodology in Deep Endometriosis

open access: yesJournal of Ultrasound in Medicine, EarlyView.
Objectives Transvaginal strain elastography (SE) has emerged as a complementary technique to transvaginal ultrasound for deep endometriosis (DE) evaluation by exploiting tissue stiffness between lesions and surrounding structures. However, its clinical adoption remains limited by marked methodological heterogeneity across studies.

Comparison of different methods of ABI acquisition for detection of peripheral artery disease in diabetic patients

open access: yesBiomedical Papers, 2019
Background: Ankle brachial index (ABI) is the principal screening method for peripheral arterial disease (PAD). In this study, we compare various types of Doppler-derived and oscillometric ABIs with results obtained through duplex ultrasonography ...

Comparison of Resistive Index and Volume Flow in Ultrasound of Arteriovenous Fistula for Dialysis Access

open access: yesHemodialysis International, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Introduction Despite extensive investigation, the optimal method of assessing arteriovenous fistula (AV fistula) function remains elusive. Ultrasound is an important tool in the assessment of AV fistula, with a wide range of protocols and flow criteria used across the literature. However, the operator dependency of ultrasound has the potential

Increases in skin perfusion and blood oxygen in the non‐exercising human limbs during exercise in the heat: Implications for control of circulation

open access: yesExperimental Physiology, EarlyView.
Abstract Blood flow in the inactive limb tissues and skin is widely thought to decline during incremental exercise to exhaustion due to augmented sympathoadrenal vasoconstrictor activity, but direct evidence to support this view is lacking. Here, we investigated the inactive‐forearm haemodynamic (Q̇forearm${\dot{Q}}_{\mathrm{forearm}}$) and oxygenation
