Ultrasound Hypotension Protocol Time-motion Study Using the Multifrequency Single Transducer Versus a Multiple Transducer Ultrasound Device

open access: yesWestern Journal of Emergency Medicine, 2021
Introduction: Ultrasound hypotension protocols (UHP) involve imaging multiple body areas, each with different transducers and imaging presets. The time for task switching between presets and transducers to perform an UHP has not been previously studied ...

Simulating Patho-realistic Ultrasound Images using Deep Generative Networks with Adversarial Learning

open access: yes, 2018
Ultrasound imaging makes use of backscattering of waves during their interaction with scatterers present in biological tissues. Simulation of synthetic ultrasound images is a challenging problem on account of inability to accurately model various factors

Localizing a target inside an enclosed cylinder with a single chaotic cavity transducer augmented with supervised machine learning

open access: yesAIP Advances, 2021
Ultrasound is employed in, e.g., non-destructive testing and environmental sensing. Unfortunately, conventional single-element ultrasound probes have a limited acoustic aperture.

A 3D-printed passive ultrasound phase-interference compensator for reduced wave degradation in cancellous bone – an experimental study in replica models

open access: yesJournal of Tissue Engineering, 2018
The current ‘active’ solution to overcome the impediment of ultrasound wave degradation associated with transit-time variation in complex tissue structures, such as the skull, is to vary the transmission delay of ultrasound pulses from individual ...

Measurement of interface pressure in interference fits [PDF]

open access: yes, 2005
When components such as bearings or gears are pressed onto a shaft, the resulting interference induces a pressure at the interface. The size of this pressure is important as many components fail because fatigue initiates from press-fit stress ...

Dimethyl fumarate combined with cisplatin at subcytotoxic doses sensitizes cervical cancer toward ferroptosis and apoptosis through GSH restriction and p53 (re)activation

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Dimethyl fumarate (DMF) reduces growth of HPV‐positive cervical cancer spheroids and induces ferroptosis in cervical cancer cells via blocking SLC7A11/Glutathione (GSH) axis. Combination of subcytotoxic doses of DMF and cisplatin (CDDP) further suppresses spheroid growth and drives cell death in 2D culture models.

Integration of porous graphene and 3D-printed piezopolymer for flexible ultrasound transducers

open access: yesMaterials & Design
Ultrasound technology is crucial in diagnostic imaging, making it widely used in medical applications. However, traditional ultrasound transducers face limitations in flexibility and ease of fabrication, leading to the exploration of thin-film and ...

Acoustic measurement of lubricant-film thickness distribution in ball bearings [PDF]

open access: yes, 2006
An oil-film thickness monitoring system capable of providing an early warning of lubrication failure in rolling element bearings has been developed. The system is used to measure the lubricant-film thickness in a conventional deep groove ball bearing ...

Development of human monoclonal antibodies against TARM1 by yeast display

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Human monoclonal antibodies against TARM1 are generated by yeast display‐guided selection. These antibodies bind to soluble and cell‐surface forms of TARM1. Also, these antibodies exhibit agonistic activity in the NFAT‐GFP reporter assay, indicating that TARM1 signaling can be functionally modulated by antibodies and suggesting TARM1 as a potential ...

A Novel Racing Array Transducer for Noninvasive Ultrasonic Retinal Stimulation: A Simulation Study

open access: yesSensors, 2019
Neurostimulation has proved to be an effective method for the restoration of visual perception lost due to retinal diseases. However, the clinically available retinal neurostimulation method is based on invasive electrodes, making it a high-cost and high-
