Assessment of Bacterial Water Load, Through Disinfection Processes, Chlorination and Ultraviolet

open access: yesBulletin of University of Agricultural Sciences and Veterinary Medicine Cluj-Napoca. Animal Science and Biotechnologies, 2018
The purpose of the research was to evaluate the degree of reduction of the bacterial load of water using as chemical disinfectant chloramine T 1% (ChT1%) and physical disinfection using UV at a wavelength of 253.93 μm, 30 minutes exposure time.

Near-Ultraviolet Radiation toward Molecular Cloud N4 in W 50/SS 433: Evidence for Direct Interaction of the Jet with Molecular Cloud [PDF]

open access: yes
We compared the molecular clouds in the western part of SS 433 with near-ultraviolet radiation data obtained from GALEX. Near-ultraviolet radiation is prominently confirmed toward only N4, while no near-ultraviolet radiation is detected toward N1, N2, and N3.

Improved thermal paint formulation [PDF]

open access: yes, 1971
Potassium silicate-treated zinc oxide paint stabilizes pigment against ultraviolet-induced, bleachable degradation in infrared region, and permits use of ZnO as pigment in ultraviolet-stable coatings based upon polymethyl siloxane elastomers and resins ...

Ultraviolet radiation oxidative stress affects eye health

open access: yesJournal of Biophotonics, 2018
In the eye, ultraviolet radiation (UVR) is not known to contribute to visual perception but to mainly damage multiple structures. UVR carries higher energy than visible light and high dose exposure to UVR causes direct cellular damage, which has an ...

Distinct Network Morphologies from In Situ Polymerization of Microtubules in Giant Polymer‐Lipid Hybrid Vesicles

open access: yesAdvanced Biology, EarlyView.
The successful in situ polymerization of microtubules in giant polymer‐lipid hybrid vesicles is illustrated. The microtubules formed in the giant hybrid vesicles exhibit different morphologies including lumenal network formation and membrane association. Abstract Creating artificial cells with a dynamic cytoskeleton, akin to those in living cells, is a

A Real-Time Ultraviolet Radiation Imaging System Using an Organic Photoconductive Image Sensor

open access: yesSensors, 2018
We have developed a real time ultraviolet (UV) imaging system that can visualize both invisible UV light and a visible (VIS) background scene in an outdoor environment.

Sensor detects hydrocarbon oil contaminants in fluid lines [PDF]

open access: yes, 1966
Sensor with ultraviolet light monitors and detects hydrocarbon oil contaminants present in fluid lines. The light causes the oil particles to fluoresce. This light emitted by the oil particle is detected by a photocell which is relatively insensitive to ...

The effect of drought and ultraviolet radiation on growth and stress markers in pea and wheat

open access: yes, 2001
It emerged recently that there is an inter-relationship between drought and ultraviolet-B (UV-B) radiation in plant responses, in that both stresses provoke an oxidative burst.

In-orbit Calibrations of the Ultraviolet Imaging Telescope [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
The Ultra-Violet Imaging Telescope (UVIT) is one of the payloads in ASTROSAT, the first Indian Space Observatory. The UVIT instrument has two 375 mm telescopes: one for the far-ultraviolet (FUV) channel (1300–1800 Å), and the other for the near ...

RhoA and Rac1 as Mechanotransduction Mediators in Colorectal Cancer

open access: yesAdvanced Biology, EarlyView.
Analysing RhoA and Rac1 protein levels in Colorectal cancer (CRC) samples under mechanical strain highlights their potential as diagnostic markers. Monitoring their activity could offer valuable insights into how cancer spreads, paving the way for new approaches to better understand and diagnose colorectal cancer.
