Molecular Hydrogen in Orion as Observed by the Far Ultraviolet Spectroscopic Explorer

open access: yes, 2005
Diffuse far-ultraviolet stellar emission scattered by dust grains has been observed in a region near the Orion Nebula. In addition to the scattered stellar continuum, emission and absorption features produced by molecular hydrogen have been identified ...

Far-ultraviolet to Near-infrared Observations of SN 2023ixf: A High-energy Explosion Engulfed in Complex Circumstellar Material

open access: yesThe Astrophysical Journal Letters, 2023
We present early-phase panchromatic photometric and spectroscopic coverage spanning the far-ultraviolet to near-infrared regime of the nearest hydrogen-rich core-collapse supernova (SN) in the last 25 yr, SN 2023ixf.

The Role of Polycyclic Aromatic Hydrocarbons in Ultraviolet Extinction. I. Probing small molecular PAHs

open access: yes, 2003
We have obtained new STIS/HST spectra to search for structure in the ultraviolet interstellar extinction curve, with particular emphasis on a search for absorption features produced by polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs).

Chemical Composition and Spectroscopic Characteristics of Heat-Treated Rubies from Madagascar, Mozambique and Tanzania

open access: yesCrystals, 2023
The chemical composition and spectra of rubies heat-treated with high temperatures (above 1200 °C) from Madagascar, Mozambique and Tanzania were analyzed by electron microprobe, LA-ICP-MS, Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, Raman spectroscopy and ...

Effect of molecular weight on the optical properties of polyimide films

open access: yesResults in Chemistry
To investigate the effect of molecular weight on the optical properties, a series of polyimide films with varying molar ratios of pyromellitic dianhydride (PMDA) to 4,4′-diaminodiphenyl ether (ODA) were synthesized.

Ultrafast One-Photon (232 vs 266 nm) Bond-Selective Photochemistry of Bromoiodomethane (CH2BrI) in Solution

open access: yesEPJ Web of Conferences, 2013
Ultrafast broadband transient absorption spectra measured from the deep-ultraviolet to the near-infrared region following single-photon excitation of bromoiodomethane in acetonitrile at different wavelengths manifest chromophore -selective structural ...

Color Genesis of Brown Diamond from the Mengyin Kimberlite, China

open access: yesCrystals, 2022
The Mengyin diamondiferous kimberlite cluster in Shandong province is one of the three major sources of natural diamond in China, where many brown diamonds are mined, but the genesis of their color is still controversial. In this paper, studies including

The (Glg)ABCs of cyanobacteria: modelling of glycogen synthesis and functional divergence of glycogen synthases in Synechocystis sp. PCC 6803

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We reconstituted Synechocystis glycogen synthesis in vitro from purified enzymes and showed that two GlgA isoenzymes produce glycogen with different architectures: GlgA1 yields denser, highly branched glycogen, whereas GlgA2 synthesizes longer, less‐branched chains.
