EFEITO DA RADIAÇÃO ULTRAVIOLETA NA COR DA MADEIRA DE FREIJÓ (Cordia goeldiana Huber) APÓS RECEBER PRODUTOS DE ACABAMENTOS

open access: yesCiência Florestal, 2010
Ultraviolet radiation is considered the most damaging radiation to wood, affecting itsproperties and especially its color. The application of finishing products such as varnishes, stains and inks can minimize the action of this radiation.

Surprising Water Slipping Performance on Highly Hydrophilic PEG‐Derived Monolayer‐Covered Surfaces: Preparation, Mechanism, and Application

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Highly hydrophilic surfaces (water contact angle, ≈17.7°) exhibiting surprising water slipping performance (sliding angle, ≈7.3°) are successfully prepared via simple chemisorption of polyethylene glycol (PEG) organosilane and subsequent alkali‐treatment.

Diffuse solar ultraviolet radiation [PDF]

open access: yes, 2005
The solar UV exposure to the eyes of humans is due to the direct and diffuse components of solar radiation. The direct ocular UV exposures to the eyes are reduced due to the natural aversion of the majority of people from looking directly at the sun. The

Submicron Metasurface Reconfigured Multiband Smart Windows

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This work presents a submicron metasurface reconfigured multiband thermochromic smart window. By integrating subwavelength nanostructures into a Fabry−Perot resonator configuration, it mitigates conventional trade‐offs to simultaneously deliver high luminous transmittance and robust solar heating and radiative cooling modulation capabilities ...

Shaping Matter with Acoustic Waves: From Particles to Functional Structures

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Acoustic‐directed assembly is reviewed as a materials‐oriented strategy for organizing particles, polymers, metals, and biological systems into functional structures. The review distinguishes reversible manipulation from permanent structure formation through medium fixation, particle fixation, and in situ material generation, highlighting routes toward

Solar Ultraviolet Radiation Exposure Among Opencast Miners in Namibia with the Use of Electronic Dosimeters: A Feasibility Study

open access: yesAnnals of Global Health
Importance: The lack of information on exposure of opencast mineworkers to solar ultraviolet radiation, a group I carcinogen, was addressed. The feasibility of using electronic dosimeters in the determination of exposure to solar ultraviolet radiation ...

Clusterization‐Triggered Emission from Cellulose‐Based Luminophores in Dilute Aqueous Solution through Imine Formation

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Clusterization‐triggered emission is realized in dilute aqueous solution by introducing imine linkages into cellulose‐based luminophores. Imine functionalization creates O/N‐rich, hydrogen‐bonded clustered microenvironments that stabilize emissive states and restrict molecular motions. Luminescence is tunable by amine type and multiplicity.
