Effective polycrystalline sensor of ultraviolet radiation

open access: yesSemiconductor Physics, Quantum Electronics & Optoelectronics, 2017
Deposition of special thin layers with high and low resistance in space charge region of surface barrier photoconverters based on the p-Cu1.8S/n-CdS structure leads to a sufficient increase in photosensitivity and decrease in dark tunneling-recombination

Synthesis of AgBiS2 and AgInS2 Based on Formation Energies in Sulfur‐Rich Reducing Flame

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
High‐surface‐area AgInS2 and AgBiS2 nanoparticles were synthesized via enclosed flame spray pyrolysis by tuning flame conditions and formation energies to guide phase formation. Flame parameters were tuned to suppress oxides and enable pure sulfide phase growth.

Demethoxycurcumin in combination with ultraviolet radiation B induces apoptosis through the mitochondrial pathway and caspase activation in A431 and HaCaT cells

open access: yesTumor Biology, 2017
Photodynamic therapy is widely used in the clinical treatment of tumors, especially skin cancers. It has been reported that the photosensitizer curcumin, in combination with ultraviolet radiation B, induces HaCaT cell apoptosis, and this effect may be ...

Engineering of Crystallinity to Amplify Chiroptical Activity of TiO2 Nanohelices for Enhancing Dissymmetric Circularly Polarized Photocatalysis

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Enhancing crystallinity through thermal annealing leads to amplifying the chiroptical activity of TiO2 nanohelices (NHs) fabricated by glancing angle deposition, ascribed to the suppression of charge trapping. The enhanced chiroptical activity can be converted into pronounced dissymmetric photocatalytic kinetics of circularly polarized photocatalysis ...

Solar ultraviolet radiation in a changing climate [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
The projected large increases in damaging ultraviolet radiation as a result of global emissions of ozone-depleting substances have been forestalled by the success of the Montreal Protocol. New challenges are now arising in relation to climate change.

Spectrally Selective Bipolar Self‐Powered Opto‐Synaptic Responses in Tandem 2D van Der Waals Ferroelectric Heterojunctions

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Tandem 2D vdW ferroelectric heterojunctions enable spectrally selective, self‐powered bipolar opto‐synaptic responses for retinal ON/OFF bipolar cell emulation and wavelength‐programmable logic operations. This work establishes vdW ferroelectric heterojunctions as a compelling materials platform for energy‐efficient, adaptive, and human‐like artificial

Effect of solar radiation on cetaceans [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
PhDDespite the marked deceleration in the amount of ozone lost at the poles each year, high levels of solar ultraviolet radiation (UVR) continue to reach our biosphere, potentially threatening living organisms, which owing to their life-histories and ...

Study of the effect of ultraviolet radiation on the development of corona discharge in high voltage networks

open access: yesВестник Северо-Кавказского федерального университета
Introduction. One of the significant components of losses in high-voltage electrical networks is corona discharge losses or "corona losses", which can, depending on the voltage level of the power line and weather conditions, reach 50 % or higher of the ...

Indolo‐Fused MR‐TADF Materials and their Application in Organelle‐Targeted Bioimaging

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Using indolo‐fusion and sulfur bridging, four multi‐resonance thermally activated delayed fluorescent (MR‐TADF) materials are reported based on the quinolino[3,2,1‐de]acridine‐5,9‐dione (QAO) framework. Functionalization of these dyes with phosphonium groups enables cellular imaging with mitochondrial targeting in glassy organic nanoparticles ...
