EFFECT OF ULTRAVIOLET RADIATION ON THE COLOR OF FREIJÓ WOOD (Cordia goeldiana Huber) AFTER APPLICATION OF FINISHING PRODUCTS

open access: yesCiência Florestal, 2010
Ultraviolet radiation is considered the most damaging radiation to wood, affecting its properties and especially its color. The application of finishing products such as varnishes, stains and inks can minimize the action of this radiation.

The Local Interstellar Ultraviolet Radiation Field [PDF]

open access: yes, 2002
I have used the Hipparcos Input Catalog, together with Kurucz model stellar atmospheres, and information on the strength of the interstellar extinction, to create a model of the expected intensity and spectral distribution of the local interstellar ultraviolet radiation field, under various assumptions concerning the albedo a of the interstellar grains.

Far Ultraviolet Diffuse Emission from the Large Magellanic Cloud [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
We present the first observations of diffuse radiation in the far ultraviolet (1000 -- 1150 \AA) from the Large Magellanic Cloud based on observations made with the {\it Far Ultraviolet Spectroscopic Explorer}. The fraction of the total radiation in the field emitted as diffuse radiation is typically 5 -- 20\% with a high of 45\% near N70 where there ...

Habitable Zones and UV Habitable Zones around Host Stars [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
Ultraviolet radiation is a double-edged sword to life. If it is too strong, the terrestrial biological systems will be damaged. And if it is too weak, the synthesis of many biochemical compounds can not go along. We try to obtain the continuous ultraviolet habitable zones, and compare the ultraviolet habitable zones with the habitable zones of host ...

Properties of an ultrarelativistic charged particle radiation in a constant homogeneous crossed electromagnetic field [PDF]

open access: yesAnnals Phys. 380, 23 (2017), 2016
The properties of radiation created by a classical ultrarelativistic scalar charged particle in a constant homogeneous crossed electromagnetic field are described both analytically and numerically with radiation reaction taken into account in the form of the Landau-Lifshitz equation.

Broadband near-ultraviolet dual comb spectroscopy [PDF]

open access: yes, 2023
The highly energetic photons of ultraviolet light drive electronic and rovibronic transitions in all molecular species. This radiation is thus a prime tool for strongly selective spectroscopic fingerprinting and real-time environmental monitoring if broad spectral coverage, short acquisition times and high spectral resolution is achieved - requirements

Comparative assessment of the nature of the impact of ultraviolet radiation on watermelon seeds in time mode

open access: yesОвощи России, 2019
Relevance. One of the main components of the spectrum of sunlight is ultraviolet rays – invisible to the human eye short-wave radiation. The influence of these rays on plant life was considered insignificant until recently, but recent studies have shown ...

Ultraviolet Radiation Constraints around the Circumstellar Habitable Zones [PDF]

open access: yes, 2005
Ultraviolet radiation is known to inhibit photosynthesis, induce DNA destruction and cause damage to a wide variety of proteins and lipids. In particular, UV radiation between 200-300 nm becomes energetically very damaging to most of the terrestrial biological systems.

A cellular system to study responses to a collision between the transcription complex and a protein‐bound nick in the DNA template

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We present the cellular transcription‐coupled Flp‐nick system allowing the introduction of a Top1‐mimicking cleavage complex (Flpcc) at a Flp recognition target site within a controllable LacZ gene. LacZ transcription leads to the collision of RNA polymerase II (RNAPII) with Flpcc, and this causes RNAPII stalling, ubiquitination, and degradation.

Transcriptome‐wide analysis of circRNA and RBP profiles and their molecular relevance for GBM

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
CircRNAs are differentially expressed in glioblastoma primary tumors and might serve as therapeutic targets and diagnostic markers. The investigation of circRNA and RNA‐binding proteins (RBPs) interactions shows that distinct RBPs play a role in circRNA biogenesis and function.
